To whom it may concern:

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to support Vasiliki (Vicki) Gerentes as a higher
education professional. I had the opportunity to work with Vicki during her experience as a
gradate intern and now Coordinator for Greek Life within Residence & Greek Life office at
the Illinois Institute of Technology. Vicki has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the
experiences of students in fraternities and sororities.

As a full-time professional and graduate student, Vicki has had to manage the expectations
of a full course-load and the commitment of working full-time at a university environment.
Vicki has demonstrated that she was able to handle all expectations and often going above
www.iit.edu
and beyond the call of duty. As a part of the Coordinator for Greek Life position, she has
www.iit.edu worked tirelessly on developing relationships with the Greek community, a community that
often does not get the attention that it asks. I often hear about the positive relationship she
Raúl R. Fernández has developed with students and the impact that she has had on them. She had advocated
Coordinator for First Year Programs &
Campus Life for the Greek community when it comes to the concerns that they may have. One example
of this, is working with the Greek organizations from the Vandercook College of Music and
Illinois Institute of Technology
3201 South State Street making sure that they have the same resources as the Greek organizations on Illinois Tech
Room 220, MTCC campus. She worked with the Office of Campus Life on making sure they had the same tools

to succeed.

E-Mail: rfernandez1@iit.edu One of the most recent projects she has worked on behalf of the Greek community at Illinois
Tech, is expanding the organizations that are representative on campus. She has recently
worked on brining national Fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, to the Illinois Tech. This
involved her being in contact with a national Fraternity office, working on the logistics of
their presentation, and making sure that there is space for the campus. She collaborated
with the Dean of Students on making sure that all concerns were addressed and that campus
partners were able to meet with the consults. This showed a commitment to detail and a
desire to enhance the student experience at Illinois Tech.

As a first-year professional, she has not only worked tirelessly in her own office, she has
expanded her reach to other campuses. She often collaborates with the Office of Campus on
making sure that the events that are hosted by Greek organizations are in compliance and
have the proper resources needed. As a colleague, I had appreciated her assistance in the
selection of an intern for the Office of Campus Life, specifically working with our Orientation
program. She co-chaired the process with me, providing logistical assistance and
participating in the interview process. Vicki’s insight is impeccable and I had greatly
benefited from it.

I strongly believe that Vicki Gerentes will contribute greatly to the field of Student Affairs. I
am more than able to continue to discuss the qualifications and the passions that she
displays on the job. I can be contacted at 312.567.5172 or at rfernandez1@iit.edu.

Sincerely,

Raúl R. Fernández
