to fix the supporting brackets

• When no blockouts can be used we

use a saw tooth plate solution or struts
to the column foundation

• Suspension gallows is installed at the
tip of the previous span and suspends
the main girders rear end during
casting.

• Two hydraulic cylinders transmit the

loads at the rear from the suspension
gallows to the deck webs during
casting

• During casting, system is suspended at

the rear and is supported to the
brackets at the front trough the
hydraulic cylinders

• Two hydraulic cylinders transmit the

loads at front from the main girders to

• After deck is pre-stressed the MSS can
be lowered at the 2 rear and 2 front
main hydraulic cylinders

• Transverse beams central connections

are removed

• Both MSS halves are then open to the

end of the supporting brackets, using
the launching wagons

• Both MSS halves can now be launched
to the next span using the launching
cylinders located at the launching
wagons

• Both MSS halves will pass outside the

columns

• When both MSS halves reach the
longitudinal position at next span
system is closed by moving the
launching wagons towards the
columns and transverse beams are
connected again

• MSS is now lifted to the casting

elevation using the 2 rear and the 2
front hydraulic cylinders

• Rebar works can start and transport of

the internal formwork will be made
simultaneous to that operation

Launching positions & reactions:

• During MSS launching the vertical and

horizontal reactions at columns will
vary

• The MSS design includes the

calculation of the reactions
transmitted to the columns and deck
during MSS launching and deck
concreting operations

• Horizontal launching forces at columns

depends of the friction coefficient in
between the Main Girder and the
Launching Wagons

Safety during launching:

• Launching device includes a braking

system that keeps MSS stable when
launching with a longitudinal slope

• MSS is always connected to the

supports during launching

Internal Formwork and Rebar works

• The internal formwork doesn’t move

together with the MSS main structure.

• The opening and closing internal

movements are made hydraulically
through an internal formwork
transport trolley.

• The internal formwork panels are

transported one at a time.

• Diaphragm opening to be big enough

to pass
