Electrical Machines drives will be discussed in detail in terms of performance, design,


Course control and implementation. Dynamic model of AC machines and their scalar and
Description vector control will be taught with special concentration on three phase induction
machine.

Upon completion of this course, students will:


• Understand the control of electrical machines
• Understand the role of power inverters in AC motor drives
• Be able to design a control for three phase induction machine.
Expected • Become familiar with analysis and performance of Induction motor.
Outcomes • Be familiarized with fuzzy logic, expert systems and ANNs for AC motor
drives.
• Have sufficient experience of using Simulink for motor control.
• Understand the basic control strategies of DC motor
