Competency 007
The principal knows how to apply organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to ensure
an effective learning environment.
Collaboration is important to maintaining a healthy campus climate and culture. I learned the
importance of making sure that school is working as a team for the greater good of the students as well as
the campus. As a leader, I will continue to inspire positive change by recruiting support for these
changes and forecast any complications that could happen because of the changes.
Competency 008
The principal knows how to apply principles of effective leadership and management in relation to
campus budgeting, personnel, resource utilization, financial management, and technology use.
Principals are required to screen expenditure and regulating plans by making sure moneys are
used competently for addressing the needs of the students within the district. I have learned that the
academic facilitators ensure that technology integration occurs in the classroom, and are well-developed
in the classroom to promote the campus improvement goals as well as academic achievement. As a
leader, I will ensure that all the policies are in place and being practiced and expenses are being
documented and utilized properly.
Competency 009
The principal knows how to apply principles of leadership and management to the campus physical plant
and support systems to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
Within the schools, academic leaders have the stimulating task of safeguarding the safety of
schools through response to intervention strategies. In accumulation to the daily obligation of sustaining a
safe and secure facility for instruction. I did not know how important this was until I looked at this from
an administrator’s eye. This important task includes the direction of the academic leader working with
others to achieve this goal. As a principal in order to uphold a school building, principals and academic
leaders must have a procedure for completing repairs and ensuring safety.

Competency 010
The beginning principal knows how to provide administrative leadership through resource management,
policy implementation, and coordination of school operations and programs to ensure a safe learning
environment.
This is an area where I am weak. I do not have a problem with providing leadership, however
implementing policies and coordination of school operations. I have to learn more about the law and the
guidelines. Once this is learned I will be able to lead effectively.
