Introduction
1 System Topology

1 Introduction
The Desigo CC management system supports Desigo TRA subsystems. The
management system contains a communication driver to connect to devices on the
network. During the integration of your Desigo TRA system with Desigo CC, you
will define one or more networks to allow imported data to successfully display in
System Browser tree.

1.1 System Topology

The system offers a wide range of system topologies, so that it can be adapted to
an unlimited number of individual requirements. For this reason, this document only
provides a description of a general system topology. The topology is valid for
Desigo version 6.0.

1.4 Supported BACnet Object Types

Object Types
Exported BACnet object types associated with a Desigo TRA automation station:
 Automation Station (DEV): Controls system components and equipment
controllers. An automation station samples and processes field data, initiates
control actions, communicates with its operators, and generates reports,
displays, and warnings.
 Commands (CMD): An object that writes to a group of object properties through
action code(s) inside the Present_Value property. When this writing occurs, the
Command object starts a sequence of actions in the BACnet device(s).
 Event Enrollment (EE): The management of events for a BACnet system.
Events are changes in the value of any property concerning any object that
meets specific criteria. Inidividual Event Enrollment alarms are compiled as a
common alarm using the Common Event object.
 I/O Objects:
– Inputs: The input block acquires a value from an external data source and
converts it to a process value
– Outputs: The output block calculates the present switching value from
several, prioritized setpoints (priority array) and transmits the switching
value to an external data.
 Loop (LOOP): The Loop block is a universal PID controller (P, PI, PD, or PID),
with external tracking. It supplies a modulating manipulated variable.

Introduction
1 Hierarchies/Views

 Trend Logs (TLOG): A property monitor for a specific object. When certain
conditions are reached, a log is produced with the property value and a
date/time stamp which is placed into a buffer for future retrieval.
 Structure View Object: Is needed to depicts the underlying objects in a defined
hierarchy.

Dynamic objects
Dynamic objects are not supported in PXC3 and DXR devices.

1.5 Hierarchies/Views
BACnet objects are displayed in different mandatory or optional views according to
your needs:
 Logical View: Displays BACnet data points, aggregators and subpoints that are
in the database. The visual layout of these objects is based on the point
naming convention (technical designation) of the object.
 User View: Displays the objects as per the user designation of the company.
Only objects with a user designation (UD) are displayed. This view is optional
and can be populated at import time.
 Application View: Displays various applications such as commanding central
functions, schedulers, reports, documents, trends, etc.
 Management View: Displays the system view for networks, management
functions (server, drivers), system settings (libraries, security, users) and all
data points in a device.
 User-defined view: Displays customized views of objects or functions using the
View builder. Multiple views can be created.

Different Views for Objects and Functions

Depends on customer's user
name structure.

Management User-defined
Structure depends on project
definition.

Offline Import
1

1.6 Offline Import

Desigo TRA automation station databases support offline data import only.

Offline Data Import

NOTE:
The management system checks periodically the consistency of the information
between the system and the automation station. In case of an inconsistency, you
must make an offline data import.

Offline Data Import

With the import function [➙ 40], you use a file from ABT Site or ABT Pro. You
typically use this method for new jobs, where all of your work—creating graphics,
setting up the networks, and so on—is done prior to arriving at the job site (offline
commissioning).

Online Data Import

The Online Data Import function is not supported by the Desigo TRA automation
station.

Auto-Discovery
The Auto-Discovery function is not supported by the Desigo TRA automation
station.

BACnet Backup and Restore

BACnet Backup and Restore uploads saved program data (application program)
for a BACnet device to the management system and then restores it as needed to
the same or a new BACnet device.

Introduction
1 Alarm

1.7 Alarm
Version 5.1
One common alarm per room is evaluated to keep the number of system alarms to
a minimum. Room coordination records the state information (Normal/Alarm) of
each zone and all electrical and mechanical installations and determines from them
the room-wide alarm state as a common alarm. The alarm is evaluated on the
Desigo PX automation station. The actual room automation station has no
alarmable objects.

Version 6
Event Enrollment is a component of the room automation station as of version 6.
The application is set up for the following objects to send an alarm to the
Management System in the event of a fault:
 Room automation station
 I/O bus
 KNX PL-Link bus

2 Restrictions for Desigo TRA

The management system supports a number of subsystems. Proprietary
development of some BACnet systems may result in restrictions on engineering
and operation. The following Desigo TRA devices are supported:
 PXC3
 DXR2
The following sections describe the restrictions applied only when integrating
Desigo TRA.

2.1 Integration in FEP not Supported

Do not integrate Desigo TRA via an FEP installation (FEP means remote
integration on another computer).
Reason: Online import is not supported by the Desigo TRA automation station..

2.2 Using Auto-Discovery

The Auto-Discovery function is not supported by the Desigo TRA automation
station.

2.3 Scheduling
The Scheduling function is not supported by the Desigo TRA automation station.
Use the Desigo PX automation station instead.

2.4 Trend-Log Multiple Object

The Trend-Log Multiple object is not supported by the Desigo TRA automation
station. Use the single Trend-Log object to collect data for recording.

2.5 TRA System Configuration

2.5.1 Maximum Number of Supported Data Points

The hardware configuration must match the entered project size for trouble-free
operation. The following project sizes are available:
 25,000 data points
 50,000 data points
 100,000 data points
The corresponding hardware requirements are described in System Description,
A6V10415500.

NOTE:
The selected project setting is independent of data point licensing.

17

Building Technologies 2015-06-23
Restrictions for Desigo TRA
2 TRA System Configuration

2.5.2 Support of 100,000 System Data Points

The number of imported BACnet objects is limited to allow the management
system to import 100,000 system data points (approximately 3000 rooms). This
number is an assumption and depends on the TRA applications used as well as
their project-specific extensions (number of lighting and blinds objects used).
During data import, only the BACnet objects required for graphical display are
imported. BACnet objects not used are filtered based on the interface name. Many
I/O BACnet objects, in particular, are not imported. All I/O objects, however, can be
displayed in the SSA (System and Setup Assistant).

NOTE:
Interface names or access level 6 and 7must not be changed during ABT
engineering. If they are changed, all project-specific interface names are imported
as additional BACnet objects. This, in turn, greatly reduces the number of
supported rooms.

2.5.3 Functionality of TRA Graphic Templates

The TRA graphic templates are displayed without requiring additional engineering
in Desigo CC. The graphic templates are displayed based on the interface name.
The presentation of the TRA graphic template is dependent on the used versions.

Compatibility List of Graphic Template

Tool Application Style Automation Station Graphic Template Displayed
PXC3
ABT V5.1 5.1 5.1 5.1
ABT V6 5.1 5.1 5.1
5.1 upgraded for 6 5.1
6 6 6

NOTE:
Interface names must not be changed during ABT engineering. If interface names
are changed, the graphic template is not displayed at all or is incomplete.

2.5.4 Extending TRA Applications in ABT

Existing standard texts must be used to extend a TRA application in ABT. If an
extension from the ABT library is added to an existing application, select Update
TX-I/O object interface with part name (available from version 5.1). The library
name is entered in place of the interface name if this option is selected. As a result,
the graphic no longer works in Desigo CC. The following illustration shows:
 Line 8: Correct interface name
 Line 9: Wrong interface name from ABT library

Dialog ABT Site

2.5.5 Restricted Importing of Data Points

The import of data points is depending of the defined object access level in ABT.
All data points with object access level Standard operation (6) and Basic operation
(7) are imported in the system database. This strong restriction avoids the overload
of the system database.

NOTE:
Do not enter an access level in the ABT Tool. Changes to the access level render
it impossible for system limits to be fulfilled with one another. Use the Extended
Import Rules function to configure your physical data point requirement.

2.5.6 External References in Automation Stations

The TRA preprocessor does application modeling by searching for points that
belong to the same application model. Now such points may be on the same
device as the application modeled parent, but they may also be on separate
devices. The preprocessor handles a single S1X file as an entity. Hence all
external references must point to elements in the same S1X file.
When external references occur in a project (as it is not the standard configuration)
the project engineer must ensure that an S1X file exported from the tool contains
all references points.

NOTE:
A good approach is to always export all devices beneath the same floor, as
external references between devices residing on different floors is rare (for
example, atrium).

2.6 User Designation

All data points with user designations are imported that meet the application style
or have access level 6 or 7. This includes data points with user designations that
are not imported as per this rule; an advanced import rule must be applied.
User Designation is fully supported in Desigo TRA in case you do following:
 The application modeling [➙ 10] supports all points with User Designation.
 Data points with access level 6 and 7 imported in any case.
 Use the Extended Import Rules to customize [➙ 39] the User Designation for
your project.

4 Starting Project Engineering

Project engineering starts with Restoring a Template Project instead of creating a
new project (on how to create a new project see the Engineering Manual
(A6V10415473)). These are the advantages of a template project:
 It is much faster to restore a project instead of creating a new project
 Pre-configured settings for user and user groups
 Pre-configured driver
 The region company can pre-define different template projects to start with

5 Creating and Configuring the BACnet Driver

The management system connection with Desigo TRA requires a driver to handle
the BACnet communication.
In System Browser, you create BACnet drivers in Management View. You
configure the related parameters in the driver that appears after creation.
You can create one or more drivers depending on your system configuration.
Please apply the following guidelines:
 The Desigo TRA application should always use a dedicated driver. BACnet
connections for Desigo TRA and other systems (for example, Fire) should use
different BACnet drivers.
 Multiple Desigo TRA BACnet connections can share the same driver as long as
the Device Identifier required for the driver by the Desigo TRA is the same for
all related BACnet networks.
If the identifier has to be different across the networks (that is, if the BACnet
client configuration on all Desigo TRA systems does not include a common
Device Identifier for the driver), then you have to create separate drivers to
match the required Device Identifiers on the different networks.

5.1 Creating the Desigo TRA BACnet Driver

 System Manager is in Engineering mode.
 The node of the required Desigo TRA BACnet driver is not present in the driver
list of the Server.

network of the Desigo TRA system (for example, 3459). This number must be
unique in the physical and virtual network.
b. Enter the Instance number in the BACnet device identifier to assign to the
driver as a BACnet client for the Desigo TRA system (for example, 34590) This
number must be unique in the UDP network.

Desigo TRA Database File (*.S1x)
You can import the data structures of Desigo TRA automation stations into the
system configuration using the *.S1x database file exported by the ABT
Programming. This is a file containing the complete internal structure of one
automation station.

Import Procedure
A specialized import procedure can read and identify the BACnet and all the control
unit points that correspond with the pre-defined object data types. For each of the
objects found in the configuration database file, a new data point is automatically
created in the system configuration as an instance of the corresponding data type.

WARNING

Failing to import the latest database file may result in a wrong interpretation of
field messages, including potentially severe fire alarms. An Unidentified Event is
generated in all cases when a message is received with no corresponding system
data point.
