Kenansville Elementary 1st Annual Agri”Culture” Night

March 26
4 - 6 pm

Faculty and Staff,

This year we will not be having the traditional science night we have done in the past, we are
trying something a little different this year, this year we will be holding an Agri”Culture” night. It
is recommended that all teachers take part in this event as it is a way to make connections with
your parents and local community. We ask that teachers decorate their bulletin boards with
themes relating to agriculture, countries around the world, different cultural awareness activities,
etc. Some grade level teams have stated they will be working on something as a grade level
(this is great), but teachers may choose to do something unique in their classrooms.

Some suggestions in preparation for this night:

● Decorate bulletin boards
● Showcase student projects, student work relating to agriculture or cultural awareness
● Have a table set up outside of your classroom with an easy fun activity or something you
could share with parents (Student leaders could do a short presentation to parents and
friends).
● Student leaders presenting information to parents, students, and friends

Other events that will be going on during the Agri”culture” night

● James Kenan FFA we be holding a fun activity: pedal tractor races
● Duplin County Agribusiness students and Director will be here to share about Agriculture
Careers (with parents and students)
● Duplin County 4H - activity for kids
● Duplin County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee - read aloud and short activity
● Duplin County Farm Bureau YF&R Committee - show hogs, tractor, etc. (the activity for
this group is subject to change)
● Soil & Water will also be here sharing something fun (Thank you Mrs. Regina)

**JoEllen Boone and fifth grade/BETA (may be) pre-selling Tiger Cards on March 26 at a table
set up during Agriculture Night.

**Amy Cooke & Liz Crawford are planning an awesome cultural awareness tie in with taste
testing of foods from around the world**
Donations:
● Duplin County Farm Bureau has donated plastic bags and pencils for each student who
attends
● NC Pork Council has donated coloring books for students that attend - the first 150
students will receive a coloring book (these books are geared towards K-3)

I will be sending out more information as well as a survey (Thank you Mrs. Hughes) to see what
grade level teams have decided and if you need any support from me. We are very excited
about the community support we have received. If you know of any other organization or
business that would like to participate in this event please let Erica Edwards know ASAP. We
are happy to have everyone join this event. If you have any questions or concerns please feel
free to contact me with questions.

Thank you all for being such an amazing staff and for the extra work you all put in to make our
school great. Let’s make this last event before Spring Break fun and enjoyable for our students.
I look forward to seeing all of the creative ideas you come up with.

PS: I apologize for the fact we have Saturday school followed by this event - I promise it has
been planned for a very long time. Thank you for being great!!

Please fill in your name, grade level, and brief description of what you will be doing on

have a drawing for prizes the following day for students who attended different stations.

The set up will most likely be in the old elementary part of the school and the school library -
third through eighth grade teachers will have, as well as Mrs. Cooke/Mrs. Crawford will have first
opportunities to set up in the library we can also set up down the hallway that connects to the
new building. Please let me know if you would like to set up in your classroom - I will need to
know this information to create the map for parents.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
