Observation on Airgrid Couterfeit Identification

As we have around 300 Airgrid (three hundred) exist in warehouse to serve for our customer
installation operation and it was ordered long time to be kept in stock for customer’s requirement in case the
Over-head laying is not reached to customer’s premise.

To make sure on the quality of Airgrid product for deployment to other areas with long distance with
stable and smooth bandwidth for customer,

we would like to show most cases which occur on usage and can be related with counterfeit airgrid for
ISP which usually bought from counterfeit supplier without license as distributor or reseller.

General Original AirGrid Concept

Airgrid Product is a wireless product from UBNT company in USA based location that distribute
worldwide which consist of many official licensed distributor and reseller around the world . this help ensure
all product purchased are Fact Genuine.

Buying from non-authorized which raise a high risk to be compatible with UBNT system and Support.

Starting in 2012 with airOS 5.5 +, Product have begun shipping with product Verification Logo Indicator,

These Product include a Hologram Logo indicator on the product packaging and a Signed Logo in the UI.

If a product is genuine, we will see a GENUINE product Logo as below

If no logo appears, the product might manufacture before 2012.

 For upgrading latest firmware from UBNT, airOS will automatically change the Date of Copyright at
lower right corner of Main Tab to present.

 So All original Airgrid Of UBNT should be compatible with airOS and operate with system ,

it will be completely allowed to upgrade firmware with latest version from UBNT and will show latest GUI
interface different from first logging and after upgrade it will automatically reboot and allow to log in again
with reachable process.

General Counterfeit AirGrid product Concept

For any counterfeit equipment that contain logo show “Counterfeit warning” at the left corner of
airOS in Main tab and all Identified counterfeit product of Airgrid might be upped with around 6 weeks of
first logging them.

 after we see the warning Logo “Counterfeit warning” and it will be soon unstable and if we reboot the
device , then we will not be able to reach the device , mean the device will go off after reboot, Unreachable
completely.
 For Airgrid M series product model introduced in 2012 or later, airOS will display official Logo in the
lower left corner of the Main tab screen.

(Not all M series product model manufactured in 2012 will display a Genuine Product Logo).

Conclusion

As we have around 300pcs of Airgrid Product in warehouse and all i have checked in package which
delivered in 24 Apr 2017.

in the package there are hologram logo and stick to Airgrid Box and for Software airOS also show the
Genuine on the left lower corner of the Main Tab screen.

Even i make update Latest airOS(firmware) to device and reboot , it also run smooth and show better
interface different from before.

If it is not Counterfeit Product, there should be installation for Corporate Customer for under 50Mbp

that is possible to transmit the bandwidth in a clear line of sight survey ( have no obstacle to block in Link).
