Assessing Social Skill Deficits, Part 1 and 2

For this assignment I was to assess a social skills deficit on a student with a case study. The
students named Bobby Gibson. For part 1, I was to analyze the observation information in Bobby
and a non-disabled student. I was to complete the discrepancy analysis chart. For part 2 of this
assignment I was to use the analysis from the chart and come up with an intervention plan for
facilitating improved social performance using instructional methods, prompting, and coaching
methods, along with peer mediated strategies and an evaluation plan for the intervention.

I addressed the requirements of this assignment by reading the case study on Bobby Gibson, I
remember it being engaging and interesting. I was able to take the information that was
provided in the case study and analyze it to fill out the form for part 1 and then formulate an
intervention plan.

For this assignment I did make some changes, from grammatical to some restructuring and
additional comments. I felt that in the time since the initial assignment I have grown as an
educator. I was able to see some areas that could have been made stronger from the initial
assignment and made those changes for publishing.

This assignment has contributed to my development as a special educator, because I am able to


fine tune my analyzation and be more reflective in interventions that support students. I am also
able to analyze what I formulated and see what I would do differently. Although, there is not
much wrong with the intervention plan I made to assist Bobby, after a few years and a new
position of an Interventionist, I am able to see where I could have implemented different aspects
or made different suggestions, etc.
