Lesson Plan nº 1

School: Normal Manuel Belgrano

Class: 3º “B”

Number of students: 30

Topic: “Can-Can’t”

Teaching Aids: pictures, adhesive tape, copies with exercises for the
students.

Conceptual Aim:

*By the end of the lesson the students should have made a revision about
the use of the grammar point “Can-Can’t” in positive and negative
sentences.

Procedure Aim:

*The students have to use a correct vocabulary and adequate his previous
knowledge to do the activities and take an active part in the lesson.

Attitudinal Aim:

*The students should participate actively in all the activities.

First of all I will greet the students and introduce myself.

Teacher: “Hello children, my name is veronica and I’m going to be your


teacher today”.

Warming up
I will start the lesson by making a revision about the use of “can-can’t” in
positive and negative sentences.

I will show them some pictures of people and animals which they’ve
already known. For example: I will show them this picture:
And then I will tell “this is a bird, do you remember birds, birds can fly”.
“Repeat after me please, birds can fly”.

Then I will tell “now look at this picture:

This is a tiger, it can crawl but it can’t fly”. “Repeat please”. Then I will
follow this sequence with the pictures of a boy, a monkey and a bear.

“Now look at this boy, his name is Tomas and he can walk. Can you
walk?”.
“Please pay attention to these pictures now. Do you remember them, they
are monkeys, monkeys can climb and can swing, repeat after me please.
Monkeys can climb, Monkeys can swing”.

“Look at this picture, this is a bear and it can hide. Repeat please, it can
hide. Can you hide like bears?”.

Practice
I will divide the class into two groups. I will deliver flashcards of animals
and people in different situations to the first group and phrases to other one.
For example:
Then one student will come to the front and show the picture to the class,
so the other students have to match the correct phrase with the picture.
Then both students will stick them on the blackboard and they will read the
sentences in a loud voice. I will ask the class to make a coral repetition.

After this activity I will hand out a copy to the students with the following
activity:

*complete the sentences using “can or can’t”

1- Tigers ________ crawl

2-Boys ________ fly

3-Monkeys ________ climb

4-Birds ________ fly

5-snakes ________ walk

Then I will ask for volunteers to read the answers, so in that way the other
students can hear and check the activity. I will read the sentences one by
one and the students will repeat after me.

After doing that, I will ask the students to open their workbooks in page 43
and do the activity nº 3.

*circle the correct answer


Then the students will check the activity orally.
