ADVERSARIAL THREAT ASSESSMENT OF FIREEYE 2

Adversarial Threat Assessment

of FireEye

A competitive assessment of the competition is important when determining how best to

assess if our company has an advantage within the same market place. FireEye has been a long-

standing leader within the cybersecurity industry. They provide a broad range of services to

companies seeking solutions capable of protecting their infrastructure, data, and reputation. This

report will provide all research attained through authorized means to support the competitive

direction we should consider when moving forward.

FireEye’s solutions span across multiple areas within cyber. Companies have various

criteria for selecting their technology vendors, but in general, there is emphasis on reducing

vendor risk by going with known brands. Our goal is to be considered equal or better than

FireEye when providing Cyber Threat Intelligence. FireEye’s ability to provide advanced

monitoring, threat intelligence, and incident response makes the likelihood of competing against

them a significant concern and to be expected.

Financials

FireEye’s customer base and revenue positions them to be innovate at an alarming rate.

Their ability to provide pioneering technology and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) feeds

potentially disrupts our current customer base and profitability. If our company is to be amongst

the top vendors in the industry, we must innovate in a manner that becomes disruptive to

FireEye. According to the 2016 annual report, FireEye had an increase of 15 percent achieving

714.1 million dollars in revenue while reducing operating losses by 87 million. (FireEye, 2017,

p. 2) FireEye’s current price per share is $15.28, down 0.25 as of July 28th, 2017. ("FireEye, Inc.

SEC Filings," 2017, p. 1)

Conclusion

Although FireEye is a significant concern, it is not in our best interest to attack them at

this time. Their ability to dedicate substantial resources makes it less likely that the attack would

impact them to the degree necessary to influence the market in our favor. We must understand

what the customer needs are, and how best to excced them. Through understanding of the

customer and innovation we will position ourselves to cause favorable disruption to the market

resulting in an increased customer base and profit our company.
