To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure to write a letter for Lindsey Sano. Lindsey was a student in my Child Development class in her
sophomore year. I have known her since August 2015 in both a teacher-student capacity as well as a advisor for
FCCLA.

As a student, Lindsey demonstrates many admirable qualities. She maintains her attendance. She is attentive and
detail-oriented. She works cooperatively with her peers demonstrating leadership qualities as well as the ability to
be an effective team member. This has been evident in many aspects of her academics and extra/co-curricular
activities at Merced High. Lindsey has been playing with girls tennis all four years, one year on junior varsity and
three years with varsity. She has served as captain for the last two years. The team has developed strong bonds
and on/off the court these girls are a united force. This further demonstrates their ability to cooperate, accept
differences and work well together. She has earned multiple awards/recognition: CCC League Sportsmanship
Award and for two years she was named as the Most Inspirational Player by her teammates. In addition to
athletics, Lindsey has been an active member of two student leadership clubs for consecutive years. She has been
a member of the Associated Premedical Students club all four years, serving as treasurer in her junior year. She
has been an active member of FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) for the last three
years and currently serves as chapter president. She has competed at the region level the last two years and plans
to compete this year as well. She has earned top placement in our region both times. Last year she competed at the
state level where she came in first place. This team project required many hours of research and preparation
outside of the school day. They worked collaboratively and impressed the judges with their creativity and
attention to detail at both region and state levels. As her chapter advisor, I can honestly say she is enthusiastic,
conscientious and goal-oriented.

Lindsey has continuously served our community over the last four years. She has over 270 hours of community
service with the Japanese-American Citizens League, College 4 Kids with Merced College and Tomodachi Gakko
(a Japanese Friendship school as a karate instructor). Lindsey has shared her passion for tennis and karate (she
holds a black belt) with children and peers in our community as an aide and instructor.

Lindsey is a passionate learner. She is consistently eager to gain knowledge and experience life to the fullest. She
exudes joy and compassion for others. She has a positive attitude and gets along well with others. Since I first
met her as a 15-year-old sophomore, she has demonstrated wisdom, integrity and courage. She isn’t afraid to put
herself out in front of her peers and lead but she also knows how to be part of a team. Lindsey demonstrates moral
integrity in her relationships with others. She is polite and empathetic.

Lindsey has maintained a 4.2 GPA throughout high school. The majority of her coursework has been honors and
AP. She has earned 3 units of college credit and anticipates additional credit prior to high school graduation. She
has been a CSF member for five of the last six semesters; projecting eligibility for the remaining two semesters of
her senior year. CSF is the oldest and largest high school honor society in the state emphasizing high standards of
scholarship and community service for high school students.

Lindsey is an exemplary student. I feel honored to have had her as a student as well as a member of FCCLA. She
definitely has the qualities to be a successful student as she pursues her postsecondary education. Her enthusiastic,
hard-working and logical personality will serve her well in her future academics as well as career. If you have any
questions, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Tammie Meyer
