Service Report

PURPOSE

The purpose of the testing performed is to conduct an evaluation of the equipment outlined
in the Equipment Identification Section of this report in order to determine the basis of the
non-operation or malfunction of the equipment.

EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION

One (1) Eaton, Type VCP-W, 5kV, 1200A, Medium Voltage Vacuum Circuit Breaker.
One (1) set of 3, Medium Voltage Cables

RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The equipment outlined in Equipment Identification Section of this report, was found in good
operating condition, and is considered acceptable for continued operation, with the following
recommendations:
Service Report

SERVICE PROCEDURES

Medium Voltage Cables (69kV maximum)

Visual and Mechanical Inspection

Inspected exposed cable section for physical damage, tracking, and corona damage.

Inspected shield grounding, cable support, and termination.

Checked terminations for proper tightness and identification.

Cleaned all creepage surfaces of termination.

Electrical Tests

Performed shield continuity test by ohmmeter method.

Performed an insulation-resistance test for one minute.

Performed a dc high-potential test on all cables. Adhered to all precautions and


limits as specified in the applicable NEMA/ICEA Standard for the specific cable.
Performed tests in accordance with ANSI/IEEE Standard 400.

Maximum test voltage was held for a total of fifteen minutes or as specified by the
project specifications or manufacturer. Readings of leakage current versus time
were recorded thirty-second and every minute thereafter

Performed voltage decrement test and monitoring voltage decay versus time.

Switchgear and Switchboard Assemblies

Visual and Mechanical Inspection

Inspected for physical damage and proper installation.

Inspected for proper alignment, anchorage and grounding.

Inspected for proper identification of protective devices and switches.

Physically tested all mechanical interlocks to assure proper operation.

Checked tightness of accessible bolted bus connections.

Cleaned switchboard interior compartments.

Inspected insulators for evidence of physical damage or contaminated surfaces.


Service Report

Checked key interlock systems for safe operation and proper key distribution. If
applicable.

Performed visual and mechanical inspection on all instrument transformers.

Inspected control power transformers for physical damage, cracked insulation,


broken leads, tightness of connections, defective wiring, and overall general
condition.

Verified correct functioning of instrument and control power transformer draw out
disconnecting and grounding contacts and interlocks.

Electrical Tests

Measured insulation resistance of each bus section phase-to-phase and phase-to-


ground.
