Que.1: - Attempt the following questions.
a. Explain with diagram forward bias & reverse bias of a p-n junction diode.
b. Derive the condition for the maximum efficiency of a transformer.
c. Show that the three phase emf’s is zero in a three phase a.c. circuit.
d. Derive the expression resonant frequency in parallel a.c. circuit.
e. Full wave bridge rectifier.

Que. 2: - Attempt the following questions.


a. The field winding of a generator has a resistance of 12.7Ω at 180C and 14.3 Ω at 500C. find temperature
coefficient of the winding at 00C and 180C. Also find the resistance of the winding at 00C.
b. Prove that in three phase star connected system, line voltage is √3 times the phase voltage.
c. Explain with circuit diagram the common emitter configuration of a transistor.
Que. 3: - Attempt the following questions.
a. A single phase, 440/220V, 10KVA, 50Hz transformer has a resistance of 0.2Ω and a reactance of 0.6 Ω on high
voltage side. The corresponding value of low voltage side are 0.04 Ω and 0.14Ω. Calculate the percentage
regulation on full load for (i) 0.8 lagging p.f., (ii) 0.8 leading p.f., (iii) unity p.f.
b. State and explain Norton’s theorem.
c. Determine the current through 1.5Ω resistor using thevenin’s theorem. 9

Que. 4: - Attempt the following questions.


a. A coil P takes 2 Amp at p.f. 0.8 lagging with an applied voltage of 10V. a second coil Q takes 2 Amp with p.f. 0.7
lagging with an applied voltage of 5 V. what voltage will be required to produce a total current of 2 Amp with
coils A & B in series. Find power factor of this series combination.
b. Find average and RMS value of a full wave rectifier a.c. output.
c. Draw the phasor diagram of practical transformer on load for lagging power factor.

Que. 7: - Attempt the following questions.
a. Three similar coils are connected in star to a three phase supply. If the line current is 15A, total power consumed
is 11 KW and volt-ampere input is 15 KVA. Find the line voltage, phase voltage, reactance and resistance of each
coil.
b. Write short note on,
i) Conductance, Susceptance and admittance.
ii) Form factor and peak factor.
iii) Filter circuit.
iv) Maximum power transfer theorem.
