The Steps Taken by the U.S and Canadian Government to Protect their National Interest

The United States and Canada share the longest land border in the world, and the two

governments have taken steps to protect their national interest. First, they have equally

participated in creating a long history of association with the aim of developing energy resources

and protecting the environment and its surroundings (Nuechterlein, 2015). They have also taken

actions to fight the climate changes and to advance new sources of clean energy that is

convenient for consumption.

Secondly, both governments have identified the significance of regulatory cooperation to

improve the economic growth and other aids to their customers and businesses. There was also a

formation of an act; The U.S.-Canada Regulatory Cooperation Council will, involves businesses

and consumers to identify how the regulatory cooperation could provide other benefits to

develop the health welfare of the citizens.

Thirdly, the United States and Canada share incorporated markets which enable them to

enjoy the most extensive joint trade and investment relationship in the world. Both governments

share the aim of enhancing joint success, they ensure there is the creation of jobs, they protect

the workers and the environment, and also they promote sustainable economic expansion

(Thomas et al, 2014). They involve in trades with other countries to ensure they acquire the

available resources used in their industries.

Lastly, the two governments are crucial allies in defense of North America, which has

been a threat to them. Their military defense forces conduct aerospace warning and control in

defense of North America. They have taken steps to improve their global nuclear security used

for safety and protection.

In conclusion, the United States and Canada have a large and multi-dimensional

corporation and association that is strengthened by their mutual values and interests. This has

helped them to engage in a shared commitment to address their challenges.
