These revisions reflect the most recent mandates stipulated in CMO No. 20 Series of 2015.
Specifically, these includes new program outcomes, changes in course content and
04 July 13, 2015 description, time allocation, outcomes based assessment and new grading system. These
revisions were done with the recommending approval from the Director for Academic Affairs
and with the approval from the President of the College.

Upon the completion of the program, students will be able to complete the following:
Demonstrate systematic understanding ok knowledge, academic field of study and its
integration in their personal and professional lives.
Relate prior learning or a body of knowledge to critical inquiry, and develop independent
Institutional Outcomes: judgment and convictions.
Communicate proficiently with others; articulate ideas clearly and effectively in oral, written, and
graphic presentations to general and specialized audiences.
Practice a self-critical culture and translate it to enduring personal values, professional
excellence, and productiveness in the workplace
Serve and lead in diverse world with integrity and ethical disposition.
Use appropriate technologies in acquiring learning necessary to engage in advancing personal,
academic, and professional growth through life.
Respond sensitively to the underlying needs of others regardless of belief and status in life.
Pursuant to CMO No. 20, Series of 2015, the graduates of the BSMT program shall have acquired the
knowledge and competences necessary to perform the following:
Program Outcomes:
a.) Demonstrate the ability to perform the competence, at the operational level under Section A-II/1
of the STCW Code;

b.) Apply knowledge in mathematics, science and technology in solving problems related to the
profession and the workplace;
c.) Work in a multi-cultural and/or multi-disciplinary team;
d.) Understand professional and ethical responsibilities;
e.) Communicate effectively in oral and written English;
f.) Understand the impact and implications of various contemporary issues in the global and social
context of the profession;
g.) Engage in lifelong learning and keep abreast with developments in the field of specialization
and/or profession;
h.) Use appropriate techniques, skills and modern tools in the practice of the profession in order to
remain globally competitive; and
i.) Conduct research using appropriate research methodologies.
Pursuant to CMO No. 20, Series of 2015, all graduates of the BSMT program shall acquire the
knowledge and demonstrate the ability to perform the competence at the operational level under
Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code, engage in lifelong learning and keep abreast with developments in
the field of specialization and/or profession, design research and analyze data using appropriate

There shall be a separate assessment plan for courses with laboratory components and courses without laboratory
components. It is mandated that there shall be an assessment for every Specific Learning Outcome (SLO).
For courses with laboratory components, forty percent (40%) of the examination shall be for lecture which composes any of
the following: written exam, oral assessment, research work and project. The sixty percent (60%) shall be allotted for practical
assessment. The practical assessment shall be accompanied by rubrics to objectively measure the performance of the learner.
For courses without laboratory components, one hundred percent (100%) of the examination shall be derived from any of
the following: written exam, oral assessment, research work and project. In the exercise of academic freedom, the faculty/assessor
is given the liberty to choose which assessment method is more appropriate based on Specific Learning Outcome. In the event that
the faculty/assessor uses two or more assessment methods, he/she is given the liberty to appropriate percentage based on what is
presumed to be of greater weight as required by the SLO.
As a general policy, the enabling outcomes shall not be graded but it will only serve as bases for monitoring student’s
performance in preparation for the assessment of the SLOs.

GRADING SYSTEM
The school adopts the numerical point system of grading. The passing standard shall be 50%. To get the percentile grade, the
number of correct answers called raw score shall be divided by the total number of test points and multiplied by 100.
Percentage (%) is used in determining and expressing a student’s raw scores in every examination. The table below shows the
range of percentage marks and their corresponding equivalents:

No provisional, conditional or temporary final grade for any curricular or component course shall be given to a student.
If students fail to take the final examination or submit any academic requirement due to excusable grounds such as sickness,
emergency or accident, an incompetent or “INC” mark is given. The institution allows special or completion examination, or
additional time for compliance of the requirements. No “INC” marks remain for more than one (1) academic year.
