Professional Goal

I: Goal:
To increase my knowledge and become effective at implementing the Math in Focus program within my
daily classroom practices. (Domains A and B)

II: Strategies:

Familiarize myself with appropriate materials, manipulatives, instructional objectives, vocabulary and
resources related to the Math in Focus program. (Aa, Ac, BH)

Collaborate with my colleagues to ensure my understanding and planning is accurate and correctly
paced according to Math in Focus time line described in teacher’s manual. (Aa, Ab, Ac,)

Effectively plan and execute activities that will enhance student investigations, discovery, exploration
and applications of Math in Focus. (Af,Ag, Be,Bh,)

Utilize assessments, supplemental and enrichment activities to monitor student growth and more
effectively target instruction and evaluate performance. (Ad,Af, Bd,Bh)

III: Timeline

1. Teacher will review teacher manual and resources associated with the Math in Focus program
on a weekly basis.
2. Teacher will research additional training to help develop a better understanding and practices
associated with Math in Focus.
3. Teacher will create a document that will supply notations of how research can enhance
instruction as well document weekly practices/lessons/units and student/personal reflection in
order to build a more effective planning procedure that will increase student learning.
4. Teacher will collect and organize student progress through informal and formal assessment
associated with Math in Focus and designed standards.

IV: Measurement

1. Teacher will provide copies of the following:


Articles, links, technology, and certificates acquired for additional research
2. Teacher will provide the following:
Printed personal document of notations on lessons/units and student/personal reflections
3. Teacher will monitor and record student growth and assessment data of students working with
regular education teacher and any support staff.
4. The goal will be measured each year by the timeline developed which will be included in either
my classroom, electronic or paper portfolio.

To establish and improve an effective classroom management approach. (Domain B and C)

II: Strategies:
Collaborate with my team and support teams to design a positive environment that is flexible, effective,
and safe for all students. (Ba,Bb,Bc,Be,Bf,Bi,Bj, Ca, Cg, Cj)

Effectively plan and execute activities that enhance student learning and maintains student
engagement. (ba,Bb, Bc,Bf,Bi,bj, Ca,Cc,Cg Ci,Cj,)

Develop a routine where students can reflect upon daily practice and self evaluate

III: Timeline:
1. Teacher will research multiple approaches that will assist in designing an effective classroom
management approach
2. Teacher will attend conferences that will assist in the education in building a motivating and
appropriate approach that will create a positive, supportive learning community.
3. Teacher will join a committee that is designed to create positive classroom behavior by year
three (2018-2019).

IV Measurement:
1. Teacher will provide certificates of attendance of training/conferences
2. Teacher will provide materials from research as well as documentation of each practice
employed.
3. The goal will be measured each year by the timeline developed which will be included in either
my classroom, electronic or paper portfolio.
