Management Portfolio

Introduction
For my Classroom Management Portfolio, I am covering things that can
help me in a K-2nd classroom. I plan to teach the younger grades, so I am not
planning for one specific content area, but rather all of them at once. This
project will ultimately help me in managing my future classroom as well as being
a reference throughout my years of teaching. I plan to come up with many
different strategies, so that in case one thing doesn’t work, I have multiple
things to help me with my classroom management. I am excited to be able to
have something to take with me in my future endeavors, such as job interviews,
because ultimately this will be a huge help and resource and show that I am
knowledgeable in managing a classroom.

as well as creating a colorful

This is an example of a classroom constitution I would like to create with my class. I
would have a few basic rules in mind in my head and as a class I would steer them
towards coming up with these rules. It would allow my students to have ownership
in the rules, and hold them accountable by signing the constitution. I would only
have 5 or 6 rules, so that it does not seem overpowering or too much to remember
for the kids.

I love the idea of every student in the class having a job each week. This allows for
everyone to feel important by having a special job, and allows for student ownership
when a job is not done or done correctly. I would change jobs once a week so that
every student has a chance to get to do every job.

Engagement
Flocabulary is a fun way to engage students in a vocabulary lesson through a
hip hop video that kids can get up and dance too and eventually sing along
with by the end of the week. Within the song it states the words and their
definitions.
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 (clap clap) That is two tens.
21-100
Activities: Skip count using the Macarena. Counting by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s,
etc. will help children with multiplication.
Do expanded notation with the body movements. Clap the ones, stomp
the tens, and snap the hundreds.
Can children count backwards from 100??
Macarena Math engages students into math with a fun song with
movements. This helps engrain the information in the student, as
well as making math fun for the class.
