Unit Title: Linear Equations Name: Beverly Becerra

Content Area: Algebra 1 Grade Level: 9th
CA Content Standard(s)/Common Core Standard(s):

In Algebra I, students learn function notation and develop the concepts of domain and range. They focus on linear, quadratic, and exponential
functions, including sequences, and also explore absolute value, step, and piecewise-defined functions; they interpret functions given
graphically, numerically, symbolically, and verbally; translate between representations; and understand the limitations of various
representations. Students build on and extend their understanding of integer exponents to consider exponential functions. They compare and
contrast linear and exponential functions, distinguishing between additive and multiplicative change. Students explore systems of equations
and inequalities, and they and interpret their solutions. They interpret arithmetic sequences as linear functions and geometric sequences as
exponential functions.

Big Ideas/Unit Goals:

1. Create an understanding for solving equations with infinite, one or no solutions

2. Students need to have an understanding of how to apply the important properties of mathematics such as the distributive, associative, commutative, and identity.
As well as have an understanding of linear equations

Unit Summary:

The unit will consist of students understanding system of linear equations, different mathematical properties, solving and graphing linear equations, and most importantly
understanding the concepts that are presented during class. Students will be able to solve systems of linear equations through graphing, substitution, or elimination.
Students will be able to use their 21st century skills to future their education. Lastly, students will understand the concepts learned in class and they will be able to apply it to
future topics\ classes.
