Proposed Three Year Budget

for
2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019
School Terms
Ann Intermediate Academy’s (AIA) student population is approximately
200. Annual funding received from the state for the media center is $5,000. The
school is located in a community where several of the students are underprivileged,
and technology resources aren’t easily accessible outside of school. Therefore,
there is a major emphasis at AIA media center to accommodate students’
technology needs which is a contributing factor to their achievement.
The principal, as well as the budgeting committee, fully support all of the
state funding for the media center to be used to its entirety. After gaining insight
from teachers, the administration staff, students, and other community members, a
budget for the media center was prepared based on needs and suggestions. Ann
Intermediate Academy’s media center will purchase materials that support the
Common Core curriculum and increase student achievement.

Books
Due to a large number of books donated to the media center by members of the
community, there is not a major amount of funding spent for these items. However,
the purchases that are being made will support students with disabilities in an effort
to increase their reading capabilities and interest.
Periodicals & AJC subscriptions
After conducting a survey based on students’ interest, it was concluded that
periodicals are not of high level interest. However, with the Common Core
standards requirements, the need for non-fiction text has increased. Also, a few of
the teachers, especially the Social Studies teachers, requested their students have
access to these materials.
AV Materials
With an increase in available online resources at no cost, there has been a decrease
in the request for AV materials. Most of the teachers and staff are able to find book
audios and videos online that are needed for their lessons.
Supplies
Basic media center supplies will be purchased to maintain the upkeep of the media
center.
Software
In order to enable students to build and improve their information literacy skills,
updated online research databases will be purchased. The purchase of this software
will also aid students in developing good research and inquiry skills which is a
component of the mission at AIA media center.
Equipment
Approximately eight chrome books will be purchased to add to the number of
devices at the media center. This purchase will increase the number of available
chrome books for students to conduct research while magnifying their creativity.
