Fern Hill Elementary School, West Chester Area School District: Fourth grade general education,
Second–Fourth grade learning support
Chosen as one of six West Chester University Early Grades Preparation majors to participate in the Professional
Development School (PDS) partnership with the West Chester Area School District. This collaborative full-time
student teaching internship occurred from August through June, in a K-4th grade elementary school setting,
including participation in all district in-service events, co-planning and co-teaching, spending three full days in
the classroom in the fall and five full days from January through June.

• Co-planned and co-taught innovative and engaging lessons with mentor teachers.
• Incorporated 21st Century skills such as collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.
• Utilized various technologies to enhance instruction and learning.
• Differentiated instruction in the general education and special education environments.
• Implemented Whole Brain Teaching techniques to maximize student learning and
engagement.
• Formed professional relationships with mentor teachers, colleagues, administrators,
support staff and other faculty members.
• Volunteered at after school Art Club consisting of all grade levels.
