SCVUSD35 Closes Schools April 26-27, 2018 Due to Teacher Walkouts

RIO RICO, AZ -- Today, the following message was sent home to parents, posted to
district websites and social media. Dear SCVUSD35 Parents and Guardians: All Santa Cruz
Valley Unified School District No. 35 schools will be closed on Thursday, April 26, 2018, and
Friday, April 27, 2018 (with the exception of food service, athletics, and high school field trips
described below).

Despite our best efforts to keep our schools operational, we have learned today that we will not
have sufficient staffing to safely supervise all students. Regretfully, we will close schools for
these dates.

We will continue to provide food service to any SCVUSD35 student at the following locations:

Calabasas School
131 Camino Maricopa
Rio Rico, AZ 85648

Breakfast: 7:00-8:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Coatimundi Middle School

Rio Rico High School

No student ID will be required. Unfortunately, no transportation will be available. Adult meals


will be available for $2.25 (Breakfast) and $3.25 (Lunch).

Middle and high school scheduled athletic games will continue as scheduled, as will high school
field trips. Details regarding field trips will be provided by instructors.
The District Office and Welcome Center will remain open during regular business hours: 7:30
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We will continue to use all modes of communication to alert families to changes or additional
closures including our phone calls, district and school websites, and social media.
