Doctor Patterson’s office wouldn’t be able to release the test results regarding Sara Martin to her
husband because it would violate the HIPPA rules. On Becker’s health and cio report – the employees
cannot discuss any information to friend or family (Zabel, L., 2016). If the patient gave consent to the
provider letting them know that is okay to tell her husband what the results were than they may give
this information to him (HHS.Gov,2013). Since Sara was not they’re at the moment the provider was
calling than no it is not acceptable unless the patient gave permission through the call or on a piece of
paper. other way this could have been released is if the patient medical file shows that it is okay to give
this confidential information out to the people and or person she decided to put on her file giving the
okay.
