Heather Richards born November 28th, 1983 is the eldest child and only daughter of Dale and

Kenneth Richards. As a child Heather attended St. Gabriel’s Girls’ R.C. primary school in San

Fernando. After writing the Common Entrance examination in 1995 she entered Holy Faith

Convent Penal where she would remain until 2002. After completing her GCE A’Level

examinations Heather moved on the University of the West Indies. It was here that she earned a

BSc in Government in 2005, an MSc in Government in 2007 and an MSc in Strategic Leadership

and Management in 2011. It was at the university that Heather first developed her love of

teaching. She lectured and tutored part time from 2007-2009 up until she entered the teaching

service at Debe Secondary school.

Since entering the school Heather has taught Social Studies, Caribbean Studies and Sociology.

She has always adopted a firm but loving approach to her students which has earned her their

trust and respect. Her passion and love of teaching and learning led her to pursue the Diploma in

Education Postgraduate Programme in 2017. Her pursuit of this Programme was motivated by

her desire to improve her teaching practice and skill in lesson planning. After completing this

Programme Heather intends to pursue an MSc in Education at the University of the West Indies

to further refine her skill and contribute to enhancing teaching and learning at her school.
