Speech Month!

disorders and role of ASHA members in
providing life-altering treatment.

For 2018, our theme is "Communication

for All." We have many resources to help
you celebrate all month long. Please check

National Nurse’s Week

May 6 - 12
National Nurses Week begins each year on
May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence
Nightingale's (the founder of modern
nursing) birthday. It features a host of
events across the U.S. to honor nurses for
the work they do, and educates the public
about nurses’ role in health care.
What better way to get ready for Nurse’s
Week than to help introduce our new
Director of Nursing, Meredith Green!

Meredith graduated from Grayson County

College with her associate’s degree in Nursing
in 2005 and in 2010 graduated from University
of Texas at Arlington with her bachelor’s

degree in nursing and in 2016 achieved her
master’s degree in nursing Meredith Greeen
administration.
RN, Director of Nursing
Meredith comes to KidsCare with over 10
years of nursing experience caring for adult,
pediatric and neonatal patients. She has extensive neonatal intensive care
nursing experience caring for critically ill patients including tracheostomies,
vents, g-tubes, wound care, IV therapy and shunts.
Meredith’s love of children began at an early age through babysitting and
being a personal nanny. Meredith transitioned from hospital care to pediatric
home health to help children and families in their home environment.

Meredith is dedicated to helping others through her nursing career and

volunteer work with CASA children. In her spare time, she values spending
time with her family and friends.

and Greatest
Spotlight: Colorado

Saturday April 14th, KidsCare Colorado

attended Developmental Pathways
Resource Fair. KidsCare Colorado
partners with DP, an Early Intervention
program, which helps those in need
ages 0-3. The event was a success!!
Many parents took our educational
flyers, pens, KCHH goodies &
information to start therapy. Not only
were we a hit with parents but other
agencies as well! With events like
these, we hope to bring awareness to
the community about our services and
how we can change lives one step at a
time.

Spotlight: Speech Therapist

Staci Daniel
MS, CCC-SLP: Lead SLP for Waco

This Lady is truly AMAZING! She is so

incredibly gifted as a therapist and she has
this awesome quiet strength that shines
through in everything she does! Staci
makes my job much easier as she truly
takes charge and leads this team when nec-
essary and when I’m unable to do so. Staci
is also one of the most positive people I
have ever met. Always a smile and always
works with everyone with such a graceful
spirit! Thank you Staci for all that you do
for KCHH Team Waco!

Here is a bit about Staci in her own words:

“I love being a speech therapist! I have worked in various settings but have
spent the past 11 years in my favorite setting, pediatric HH. Going into
homes and seeing a kid be their true self and getting to see the struggles
and celebrate the victories with the family is so rewarding. I am passionate
about taking a whole child approach to therapy and collaborating with the
family to figure out root causes, especially when it comes to feeding
therapy. Some of the most rewarding experiences have been helping
families give their child a voice and a long term mode of communication
through use of AAC and being able to work with and advocate for children
from hard places, especially the foster care system (which is very near and
dear to my heart as my family has fostered and adopted our youngest child
from the system).

When I am not treating kids, I stay busy being a mama to my 3 kids

(Kaydon 11, Layton 9 & Aniyah 7). My family moved to Waco 3 years ago
and we have really enjoyed exploring and getting to know this area. Our
days are filled with dance, theatre, sports, church (my husband is a pastor),
playing outside, being a part of local adoptive and behavior support groups
and keeping up our kiddo's therapy at home (we have worked with
therapists & functional doctors to holistically treat developmental,
emotional/ behavioral and sensory issues that my kids have). I rarely get a
break from being around kids with special needs, but I wouldn't have it any
other way. I am grateful that I found KidsCare when I moved to Waco! It is
a great company and a blessing to have a job that is both rewarding and
flexible to be able to work around my family's needs.”
