Southern Arts Society (SASi) offers a variety of free monthly programs along with paid classes and workshops for all skill levels. 
Join SASi or renew your membership to save on classes and exhibit entries. General Membership starts at $25. For more 
information please visit us in person, or check our website at www.southernartssociety.org. There you will find a detailed class 
description and a list of supplies required for the student to bring. SASi meets the first Tuesday Sept thru June, for a Free 
informative art demonstration or mini‐workshop. Visitors are welcome. Doors open at 6:30 and the program starts at 7 pm. 
Membership includes several groups sponsored by SASi: The “Shutter Light Group” photography club meets the third Tuesday 
(Sept‐June) at 7 pm.  Their programs feature local photographers showing their work and offering tips and techniques to both 
the novice and experienced photographers. Occasional outings are scheduled to photograph local scenery. Details email 
kmcameraclub@gmail.com. Our Color Pencil Group meets the last Thursday monthly (Sept‐May) at 6:30 pm. Meetings feature 
videos, work along projects, tips and techniques for color pencil.  Our newest offering is the Knit & Crochet Now! Group meeting 
the third Wednesday monthly (Sept‐May) at 10:30 am. They gather to share ideas and help each other with individual projects.   
For classes you must register and pay in advance to reserve your seat in the class. SASi accepts cash, check and credit cards. 
Class size and seating are limited. Classes that do not register the minimum number of students may be canceled.  If the class is 
canceled by  the  instructor  all  payments  will  be  refunded. Wear  appropriate  clothing  or  bring  an  apron to  wear.  Please  bring 
your own snacks or lunch, unless noted otherwise.  Soft drinks and water are available at SASi.    

THURSDAY MORNINGS  OPEN STUDIO  
   Bring your current art project to work on.  No Instruction – just time to create on your own and enjoy fellowship 
with other artists. Led by artist Darlene Godfrey. Doors open at 10 am.   
 
SASi Program and Meeting May 1 at 7 pm.  
   General Meeting and Officer Elections 
Program – Jennifer Kirton will help us explore the illusion of translating an object from life to paper in a “round robin 
draw” using different techniques. Everyone will have a chance to explore and challenge themselves. We will supply 
paper and pencils. Doors open at 6:30 to meet and greet. Vote for officers at 7 pm, Program begins at 7:15 pm. 
 
Saturday May 12 Drawing ‐ Back to Basics with Todd Baxter   
Time: 9 am ‐ 4 pm.  Cost: $55 SASi Members, $60 Non‐members. 
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate. Ages: 14 & up 
Bring your own lunch.

Class Description: Students will focus on the basics of drawing; line, shape, 
value, proportions and composition. The more experienced you are, the more 
aware you become of the importance of mastering the basics. We will also 
work on improving rendering skills.
