3 ways to make Caracas a better place

Many cities in Latin-America are known for their high criminal rates and poor quality education.

Caracas is just one of the many cities that, because of this problems, is falling into a state of

decay that hides a city with a lot to offer, if, for any reason you have visited Caracas, then you

would guess at first sight that is just another Latin-American city filled with high crime rates, but

if you looked closer, then you will see that more than a city, is a living organism, with a lot of

things that keep it alive like cultural centers and never ending parties, but that is dying because of

small part of its population, so, in order to keep Caracas from falling apart and to make it a

better place to live, three steps are needed.

The first and most important step, is to improve the quality of education the population,

especially children, is receiving. Now, some people might ask, why does the society need to

focus on the education of children if most criminals are fully grown adults? Well, the answer is

simple, a better pre and middle school education mean that the children will never grow up to be

like their adults counterparts. For example, if someone talks to a child that received a high

quality private education, then he would think that this boy could grow up to have strong moral

bases and therefore, be part of a normal community, on the other hand, if the same person talked

to another child that received an average quality public school education, then immediately, he

would consider him a possible future criminal. In brief, if society looks at these facts and the

quality of education becomes the same for everybody, then as a result, there is a high chance that

crime rates will drop, making the city a better place to live.

The second step needed to make Caracas a better place is to reduce the unemployment rates. If

people in the city have a stable job, then the need to steal and rob people will no longer be a
priority to survive, and consequently, people will feel reassured that they can keep their family

alive in a legal way without harming anyone.

The final step required, is to improve the police and law enforcement departments, this is

because, if people start to feel safe on the streets, then there would be no need to be afraid of

other people. Moreover it would make people friendlier and would drastically reduce the crime

rates. Imagine for one second that there is a special lottery that allows people to live in a city

with almost no crime; people will feel safer and thus happier right? Briefly said if you have an

efficient police department, then people will be happier and feel safer on the street, making it

pleasant to live in the city.

In conclusion, if the government could implement plans to make these three steps a reality more

than just a promise, then Caracas could become one of the safest cities in the world, making it a

better place to live.
