MINI PROJECT: Distribution Transformer Monitoring and Protection System

PACKAGE USED: Micro controllers, C.

DESCRIPTION: The aim of the project work is to protect the distribution transformer
or any other transformer, burning due to the overload, over temperature and input high
voltage. Normally transformers are burning because of these three reasons and by
incorporating this type of monitoring and control circuits, life of the transformer can be
increased.

MAIN PROJECT: Protection of 62.5MW Turbo Genrator and 132KV Feeders

DESCRIPTION: In the power system consisting of generators, transformers,

transmission and distribution circuits, it is inevitable that sooner or later some failure
will occur some where in the system when a failure occurs in any part of the system it
must be quickly detected and disconnected from the system. There are two principle
regions for it. Firstly if the faults is not cleared quickly ,it may causes unnecessarily
interruptions of service to the customers .secondly, rapid disconnections of faulted
apparatus limit the amount of damage to it and prevents the effect of faults from the
spreading into the system . The detection of the faults and disconnection of the faults.
The section or apparatus can be achieved by using fuses for the L.T section and relays
in conjunction with circuit breakers for H.T sections. The relays detect the fault and
supply information to the circuit breakers which performs the function of circuit
interruptions.
