Week 13:THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND VIRTUAL REALITY

The virtual reality is the world that only exists in front of the computer, it is a
simulation of the real world

Lessig (2006) said that “ MMOG space is different. It is, first of all, a virtual space-
like a cartoon on a television screen, sometimes rendered to look three-
dimensional. But unlike a cartoon , MMOG space enables you to control the
characters on the screen in real time”. This means that individuals can create
characters which ever they desire. The user has total control over the character he
determines his personality. These characters becomes second life’s to the user’s
real life. Virtual reality does not have boundaries or laws that plays some social
responsibility on our shoulders, in virtual laws do not exist and their is no
punishment morally irresponsible behavior. Virtual reality is lawless that there is no
one to regulate what people do , how and to whom the material that they are
hosting is directed to. The great thing about virtual reality is that it allows
individual to be anything and it is also very interactive

. Unlike in real life where the buildings and materials are physical, the location of
buildings does not matter , what matters is that communication takes place in a
fake world. Most of the action that takes place in the virtual world does not cross
into reality. People can prostitute themselves and even steal without being present
physically. Virtual reality gives people the opportunity to escape from real life
realities and to do things that they will ever do. Virtual reality gives disabled
people an opportunity to do activities that they cannot do in their everyday
lifes.Virtual reality is safer from the real world because all the dangerous things
that are in the real world are only a simulation in the virtual world.Example of
virtual reality is the movie Avatar by James Cametron , in the film human being
can exist , live and interact with other specie by being virtual there.

The disadvantage of the virtual world is that it does not solve problems , people
use it to escape from real problems and when the comeback from the virtual
world those problems are still there.

The advantages of the real world is that problems that we go through I n our
day to day life’s are real and they are tackled and solved. In the real world we
are only confined to a small space , you cannot go anywhere and it is boring
because it rarely offers new experiences. In the real world they are rules that
governs us as such you just can’t do anything you like. In the real world you
cannot assume multiple identities. The real world is very costly to live in and it
is also dangerous.
