Unit 65 – Digital Web Animation Assignment 3 – Checklist

Explain how you used the following:

Range How Used Screenshot evidence

Workspace: stage, I used the stage in macromedia director
timeline, menu bar, to add all of my assets to the banner. I
toolbar, library, colour used the stage to see what my banner
palettes, properties, will look like when completed, I used it to
preferences, help. position and size my assets to fit into the
1200 x 200 banner size. I added assets to
my timeline by dragging them from the
cast list, I used the timeline to see how
many frames each asset would be on the
stage for, I used the timeline to rearrange
assets and put them in the desired order,
I used the timeline to make my animation
last thirty seconds by ensuring the
animation lasted 900 frames (presuming
30 frames per second). I used the menu
bar for very simple tasks such as saving
my work and undoing any mistakes that I
made. The tool bar was again used for
quite basic tasks such as selecting text
boxes. The code library was used for very
important tasks, examples include
selecting the “pixelate effect”, selecting
the cycle graphics function and adding
the slide function to the text.
Basic tools: drawing, eg In photoshop I did not have to use the
pencil, line, pen, brush, pencil tool. I used the line tool to
shapes; free transform, eg underline the my logo that was created in
rotate, skew, distort, scale, photoshop. I did not have to use the pen
envelope, ruler and tool or brush tool. I did use the shape tool
guidelines; editing, eg to produce the two pixels on the top right
lasso, eraser, undo, copy, of my logo, and to painstakingly
paste, duplicate, insert, reproduce each square and rectangle of
delete, aligning, grouping, my band member sprites. I did use the
ungrouping free transform tool to position and
reposition assets in photoshop. The
production of my assets in photoshop did
not warrant the use of any rulers or
guidelines, I did not have to use the lasso
tool, I did use undo to take back any
errors I made, I used the copy and paste
options to ensure that each square I used
was exactly the same size, i used to
delete to remove any errors, I used
aligning to make sure all the individual
squares of my work were flush, I was very
sure to use grouping so that the many
individual pieces of my work stayed
together and were not separated.
Objects: symbols, eg I did not have to duplicate symbols, swap
instances, duplicating or edit symbols in production of my work
symbols, swapping on photoshop.
symbols, editing, grouping
Colour tools: eg colour I did use the colour properties option to
properties, eyedropper, select the colours of all the individual
creating custom colours, squares in the band members. I did not
colour swatches, stroke have to use the eyedropper tool, I did not
and fill have to create custom colours, my assets
used primary colours, I did not have to
utilise colour swatches, and I did not have
to use stroke and fill.

Text tools: text, eg editing, I used the text tool in photoshop when
moving, rotating, creating the pixel’s logo. I used a text tool
reshaping, scrolling, in macromedia director when producing
creating text blocks, the text “NATIONAL TOUR” and when
converting text to shapes producing all of the text information for
the tour venues and dates. I had to move,
resize and reposition the text when
getting it to fit the web banner and fit In
the right place. I did not add any scrolling
text boxes. I did not have to create any
text blocks. I did not have to convert any
text to shapes.
Manipulating objects: I had to manipulate vector shapes when
manipulating vector producing my logo on photoshop. The
shapes; single layer vector two squares that represent two pixels
shape interaction; had to be manipulated into the right
transforming and grouping shape and size for the logo. I did not have
vector shapes to group any of the shapes in the logo,
there was no need for me to move the
shapes together since the they were the
last thing added and didn’t need moving.

Animation: frame label; My animation did not require the use of

frame rate; timeline frame labels, frame rate, play head,
(playhead, layers, frames, layers, keyframes, onion skinning,
frame rate, markers, frame by frame testing,
keyframes, onion skinning, tweening or motion.
markers); frame I did use frame manipulation to copy and
manipulation, eg copying, paste the “NATIONAL TOUR” text
deleting, reversal; repeatedly with 20 frames in between to
testing movies; frame by make it look like the text was flashing.
frame animation;
tweening (shape, motion)

Assets: importing, eg Before I started my project I had to

raster images, vector import all of my animation assets. My
images, sound files, video assets included raster images and a
files, movie clips; sound file. I produced all the text assets
resizing; bitmap to vector in Director these include the “NATIONAL
conversion; asset libraries TOUR” text, the “M.E.N ARENA” text, the
“O2 ARENA” text, the “WEMBLEY ARENA”
text, the “SHEFFIELD ARENA” text, the
“ADULTS:£20.00” text and the
“CHILDREN: £15.00” text and then after
that those the venues with the tour dates
after them.
Advanced tools: scenes; In the production of my web banner I did
guide layers; masking, eg not have to utilise the use of scenes,
mask layers, animated guide layers, masking, mask layers or
masks; timeline effects, eg animated masks.
blur, drop shadow,
expand, explode,
transform, transition;
nesting movie clips
Interactivity: scripting; I only added one element of interactivity
behaviours; actions; to my web banner and that was giving
triggers; buttons; the viewer the option to move the band
rollovers; playback members around the web banner. This
control; was done simply done by dragging the
preloaders “draggable” code onto the sprites. Adding
this code to the sprite allows the user to
move the sprites around the banner by
clicking on them and dragging them.
