The American Comer Chittagong is an Information Resource Center
of the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka. It provides information services to the
Chittagong community on American history, culture, society.
literature, art, government, politics, education, commercial
opportunites, and many other topics.
The American Corner Chittagong is open to all visitors. In order to use the resources and facilites of
the Comer, users must purchase a membership.
% In our Collection:
‘The American Corner Chittagong is equipped with the latest and most accurate information available
‘rom print and electronic media. A collection of several volumes of reference books, print
periodicals, CD-ROMs, and DVDs are available for use
% Reference Materials:
The reference collection in the Corner includes dictionaries, directories, encyclopedias, almanacs,
periodicals and other books held especially for consultation. Reference books on TOEFL, GRE, SAT,
(Quides for admission to colleges and universities in the U.S.A. is also available.
The reference collection is best used in person, but our professional staff does answer queries via
telephone, e-mail, fx, or mall
> Films:
'n addition to the print collection, the Corner maintains a collection of DVDs. Patrons may view the
DVDs at one of the Comer's TV stations.
> Newspaper, Periodicals:
The American Corner also subscribes to newspapers, periodicals, including Artin America, National
Geographic, Reader's Digest, Time, Newsweek, etc% Digital Resources:
The American Corner has a good collection of very resourceful CDs. The
most popular CDs are Encarta Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia American,
Flash Back Atas, Multimedia af U.S, History, National Gallery of At, World
Book Encyclopedia, Lie in Pioneer America, and Jaze Greats.
> Internet Access:
The American Corner maintains computers on which patrons can access Internet for free.
>* Borrowing privileges
Memibers may borrow two books at a time for a period of two weeks. If the books are not in
demand, they may be renewed for once on request by telephone, email or in person.
Borowers’ cards are not transferable, and a member is responsible for anything borrowed with
his/her card, Any change of address, phone number or loss of membership card should be reported
immediately to avoid any inconvenience, A replacement card costs 100 taka, The American Corner
reserves the right to restrict admission and to cancel the enrollment of any person who does nat
