Relationship between defining the variables
and problem situation - Bryanna
The Say No to World Hunger committee has decided to have a fundraiser next month. The idea for
the fundraiser is to make and sell t-shirts with tie-dyed designs. There are two designs being
offered a child’s face and a custom design. No more than 100 shirts can be made and production
may not cost over $560. It costs $5 to make a child face tie-dye design and $7 to make a custom
tie-dye design. The profit for making and selling a t-shirt with a child face design is $3.30 per shirt
; the profit for a custom design t-shirt is $5.00 per shirt. Find the maximum possible profit from
the fundraiser.

x= # of child face t-shirts y= # of custom made t-shirts

Relationship between problem situation & the
system of linear equations - Wandynel
# of child face t-shirts: x ≥ 0 number: x+y≤100

# of custom made t-shirts: y ≥ 0 cost: 5x+7y≤560

Relationship between The Optimal Solution
and the Problem Situation- Max
Optimal Solution:
Objective Function: 3.50x+5y
The Say No to World Hunger
Testing the Corner Points to committee should sell zero shirts
Maximize Profit: with the child facem tie-dye design
and 80 custom design t-shirts to
3.50(0)+5(80)=400 maximize profit for the fundraiser

3.50(0)+5(0)=0 Does the Solution Make Sense??

0≥0 ✔
3.50(100)+5(0)=350 80≥0 ✔
0+80≤100 ✔
3.50(70)+5(30)=395 5(0)+7(80)≤560 ✔
