Introduction

This document is directed for the technical team is executing the upgrade from SDM version 15.1 to
SDM Version 15.2

What Is New in SDM V15.2?

Please refer to SDM V15.2 Release Notes document to explore SDM V15.2 new features

Backward Compatibility

SDM V15.2 maintains backward compatibility between SDM V15.2 Application Server and SDM In-Store
Client version 15.1

This enables upgrading the SDM Server and gradually upgrades store level components from versions
15.1 to version 15.2.

SDM V 15.2 Upgrade Prerequisites

This upgrade guide assumes that SDM V15.1 is installed and in place.

If you have not yet upgraded to SDM V15.1 or performing new installation, please refer to SDM V15.1
Installation Guide or SDM V15.1 Upgrade Guide document.

Framework Requirements
It is required to have .Net framework 4.0 installed in all machines that have SDM applications.

Knowledgebase & Skills

The executer of the upgrade procedure needs to have good knowledge of SDM Solution architecture
and components.

In addition basic skills with Windows are required for performing some of the upgrade steps.

Precautions
It is highly recommended to have full backup for both SDM database and SDM Components and
configuration before starting with the upgrade procedure.

This backup will be used for the rollback procedure in the case there is a need to rollback to SDM V15.1
environment.
Upgrade Package
The following files are required during the upgrade process, you may download SDM V15.2 upgrade
package from NCR Aloha client download site www.ps-helpdesk.com .

Following is the description for the Upgrade package files

Backup Procedure
As recommended, we need the backup to be used in rollback procedure to SDM V15.1. The following
show the details for backup both SDM database and SDM Components.

Backup SDM Database:

You need to get the DBA help to backup the SDM database.

Backup SDM Server:

To backup SDM server, we should do the following:
1) Create backup folder in your backup disk as SDMServerV15.1.
2) Browse installation path.
3) Copy \Bin folder to your backup folder.

Backup SDM Agent:

To backup SDM Agent, we should do the following:
1) Create backup folder in your backup disk as SDMAgentV15.1.
2) In update server, browse update folder SDM Agent.
3) Copy \Update folder to your backup folder.

Backup SDM In-Store Client:

To backup SDM In-Store Client, we should do the following:
1) Create backup folder in your backup disk like SDMStoreV15.1.
2) Browse installation path.
3) Copy \Bin folder to your backup folder.
4) Copy \Data folder to your backup folder.
Backup SDM Supervisor module:
To backup SDM Supervisor/Dashboard, we should do the following:
1) Create backup folder in your backup disk as SDMSupervisorV15.1.
2) In update server, browse update folder for SDM Supervisor.
3) Copy \Update folder to your backup folder.

For direct update you can do the following:

1) Create backup folder in your backup disk as SDMSupervisorV15.1.
2) Browse installation path.
3) Copy \SDMSupervisor folder to your backup folder.

Backup SDM Manager:

To backup SDM Manager, we should do the following:
1) Create backup folder in your backup disk as SDMManagerV15.1.
2) In update server, browse update folder for SDM Manager.
3) Copy \Update folder to your backup folder.

For direct update you can do the following:

1) Create backup folder in your backup disk as SDMManagerV15.1.
2) Browse installation path.
3) Copy \SDMManager folder to your backup folder.

Upgrade Procedure

To upgrade from version 15.1 to version 15.2, you need to do series of steps as described in details
below:
In case there is a need to rollback, please refer to the Rollback section of this document.

Upgrading SDM Database:

Version 15.2 contains some required changes on the database structure; all these changes are
available on one script file
• Oracle Database: DBUpdate_V151V152_OracleUpgrad.txt
• MS SQL Database: DBUpdate_V151V152_SQLUpgrad.txt

You need to get the DBA help to execute the list of queries on the database.

Upgrading SDM Server:

To upgrade SDM Server we should do the following:
1) Stop the guardian service CCProc.

Go to Start menu then “Run”

Write “Net Stop CCProc”.
2) Stop the CallCenterProcess.exe
3) Stop FTPServer_CC.exe
4) Launch SDMServer_V151V152Upgrad.exe and put the installation path then click
Next.
 5) Run the guardian service.

Go to Start menu then “Run”.

Write “Net Start CCProc”.

Note: same steps needs to be applied on any redundant servers.

Upgrading SDM Agent:

The SDM Agent machines take the update from a server configured on a batch file (“Run.bat”),
so we should do the following:
1) On Update Server, which used in “Run.bat”.
2) Launch SDMAgent_V151V152Upgrad.exe and put the update folder path and click
Install.
3) Delete all *.upd files in the update folder.
4) Close SDM Agent application in all machines.
5) Run the SDM application using “Run.bat”
6) SDM Application will automatically get the update at the Agent side from the
update server

Upgrading SDM In-Store Client:

To upgrade SDM In-Store Client (Aloha Version) we should do the following:
1) Stop the guardian service CCProc.

Go to Start menu then “Run”

Write “Net Stop CCProc”.
2) Stop SDM In-Store Client.
3) Stop Replication process.
4) Stop FTPserver process.
5) Use SDMClientAloha_V151V152Upgrad.exe and put the installation path then press
Install.
6) Run the guardian service.

Go to Start menu then “Run”.

Write “Net Start CCProc”.
7) Run the SDM In-Store Client.

Follow the same steps for upgrading SDM In-Store Client (AR Version)

Upgrading SDM Supervisor module:

To upgrade SDM Supervisor/Dashboard you can follow the same steps of SDM Agent upgrade or
follow the steps for direct update:
1) Stop SDM Supervisor.
2) Use SDMSupervisor_V151V152Upgrad.exe and put the installation path then press
Install.
3) Run SDM Supervisor
Upgrading SDM Manager:
To upgrade SDM Manager you should do the following:
1) Stop SDM Manager.
2) Use SDMManager_V151V152Upgrad.exe and put the installation path then press
Install.
3) Run SDM Manager.

Rollback Procedure

In case that something goes wrong while upgrading and a decision is made to perform rollback,
we should do the following:

Have the backup media available with you, which include both SDM database backup and SDM
Files backup.

Rollback SDM Database:

The SDM Database version 15.2 is compatible with version 15.1 and no need to do any changes.
If you find that you need to do rollback please contact the database administrator or contact
NCR Aloha for more details.

Rollback SDM Server:

To rollback the SDM Server we should do the following:
1) Stop the guardian service CCProc.

Go to Start menu then “Run”

Write “Net Stop CCProc”.
2) Stop the CallCenterProcess.exe
3) Stop FTPServer_CC.exe
4) Use the backup files and copied back to the installation folder.
5) Run the guardian service.
6) Go to Start menu then “Run”.
7) Write “Net Start CCProc”.

Rollback SDM Agent:

Go to Start menu then “Run”

Write “Net Stop CCProc”.
9) Stop SDM In-Store Client.
10) Stop Replication process.
11) Stop FTPserver process.
12) Use the backup files and copied back to the installation folder.
13) Run the guardian service.

Go to Start menu then “Run”.

Write “Net Start CCProc”.
14) Run the SDM In-Store Client.

Rollback SDM Supervisor module:

To rollback SDM Supervisor/Dashboard you can follow the same steps of SDM Agent
rollback or follow the steps for direct rollback:
1) Stop SDM Supervisor.
2) Use the backup files and copied back to the installation folder.
3) Run SDM Supervisor.

Rollback SDM Manager:

To rollback SDM Manager you should do the following:
1) Stop SDM Manager.
2) Use the backup files and copied back to the installation folder.
3) Run SDM Manager.

Setup New Features

All new features in SDM 15.2 will be activated automatically, please refer to SDM V15.2 Release Notes
document to explore SDM V15.2 new features

You Are Done!

SDM solution is now upgraded to version 15.2, and you can start using the new version
