TITLE  ESTABLISHING CONTROL SURVEY: TRAVERSING 
 
1.1 Introduction
Level 2 laboratory activity refers to condition where the problem and ways &
means are guided and given to the students. However the answers to the
assignment are left to the students to solve using the group creativity and
innovativeness. The activity is hope to slowly introduced and inculcate
independent learning amongst students and prepare them for a much
harder task of open-ended laboratory activities.

 
1.2 Objectives
 The objective of this laboratory is to introduce the theodolite to be
PREAMBLE  used in horizontal control survey and hence execute the method of
traversing for a closed traverse. 
 
1.3 Learning Outcomes
Throughout this activity, the students should be able to:
 Form effective teamwork,
 Communicate effectively through laboratory reports and oral
communication,
 Use of critical thinking in solving problems related to survey data
 Perform distance and angle adjustment
 Plot the survey

2.0 Problem Statement

Students are asked to establish 4-5 control points using traversing. These
PROBLEM STATEMENT 
points will be used to set out data for building and road construction
projects. The accuracy of all measurements and analysis should be
checked using appropriate method.

3.1 Equipments

1. Prismatic compass
2. Theodolite
3. Measurement tape
4. Ranging Pole
WAYS & MEANS  5. Other related or necessary equipment

All measured data should be tabulated in a standard booking form.


Check all pre-computed data using appropriate method/procedure.

4.0 Results, Analysis and Conclusion

Group is required to submit the technical report of the surveying practical


results, highlighting the equipment used, the procedures undertaken for the
practical, data acquisition process, and analysis carried out. The format of
RESULTS 
the technical report is left to the creativity discretion of the group.

The technical report is must be submitted within 7 days after the completion
of survey period.
