INTRODUCTION

The word AIDS means acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, in the event of deficiency
of the immune system, the body's defenses decrease in relation to the appearance of
pathogens. An advanced deficiency in the immune system can lead to the development
of serious diseases or even death.

The simultaneous appearance of different symptoms of diseases is called syndrome in

medicine. AIDS is the late consequence of an HIV infection (human immunodeficiency
virus) which is why we have talked about acquired human immunodeficiency syndrome.

An HIV infection develops at different stages, proceed and the immune system stage is
severely deteriorated, where serious and lethal diseases such as tumors can develop.
AIDS
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is an advanced clinical manifestation of
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. Research carried out by scientists from
Uni. of Arizona - USA, states:

HIV comes from the SIV.

SIV - in the immune system of chipanzés and monkeys-greens.

Historians consider that in ancient Egypt there were already cases of deaths caused by the
HIV virus, because some of the deaths reported had symptoms identical to those caused
by this virus.

From mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, if the mother is
contaminated.

In the practice of sharing needles and syringes (two or more people use one), especially
in injecting drug use, when one of the users is contaminated. Acupuncture materials,
tattoos and other piercing and sharp objects can also pose danger.

PREVENTION
Safe sex: with the use of condoms (including oral sex).

In the social kiss, hugs and handshakes.

CONCLUSION
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a disease of the human immune system
caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). During the initial infection, a person
may go through a brief sick period, with flu-like symptoms. Usually this is followed for
an extended period without any other symptoms. As the disease progresses, it interferes
more and more in the immune system, making the person much more likely to have other
types of diseases, such as opportunistic infections and cancer, which usually do not affect
people with a healthy immune system.

HIV is transmitted primarily through non-condom use (including anal sex and even oral
sex), transfusions of contaminated blood, hypodermic needles and mother-to-child
transmission during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. ] Other body fluids, such as
saliva and tears, do not transmit the virus. Prevention of HIV infection, especially through
safer sex and needle exchange programs, is a key strategy to control the spread of the
disease. Although there is still no cure or vaccine, antiretroviral treatment can slow the
development of the disease and increase the life expectancy of the virus carrier. While
antiretroviral treatment reduces the risk of death and complications of the disease, these
drugs are expensive and associated with various side effects.
