Pasadena Elementary School

VISION STATEMENT

We envision Pasadena Elementary to be a school where we maintain high expectations for academic standards through
rigorous instruction. We will continue to foster a positive, caring school climate where we respect and value diversity
and prepare individuals for success in higher learning and careers.

Dear Pasadena Elementary Families:

As we approach the final month of school, a special thanks to our students, families, and school staff for a successful year at PES.
Our students have benefited from the high quality of instruction and afforded new opportunities to get involved. In the coming
weeks, students will be engaging in many end-of-year activities. Our first priority continues to be student safety as we continue
preparations for the next grade level, progressing through county curriculum. It is important to note that school is in session
through Friday, June 15. Instruction will be ongoing, and it is important your student attend school on-time daily.
The PES staff would like to extend our appreciation to the wonderful volunteers and sponsors that work to make events, field
trips, and projects successful at our school. Your involvement has made our school a special place to grow and learn this year.
We will begin planning classes for next school year. If there is any information you would like to share about your child’s
academic, physical, or social/emotional needs, please write me a letter by June 1. The school team will do our best to place
students based upon these needs. Unfortunately, I do not accept parent requests. Instead, I do take recommendations for type of
structured setting, learning characteristics that best support that student, etc. Students will continue to re-group for reading and
math based upon instructional level, and I cannot guarantee which teacher will instruct a particular level for these contents. I will
do my best to arrange school staff to program for your student’s needs specified in writing.
I sincerely hope your student has had a positive experience this school year. Thank you for your continuous home support at
school and home: sending your student to school on-time, ready to learn, reinforcing skills, and participating in extracurricular
school events. I want to express my gratitude to the parents and guardians for your on-going support of our faculty and staff. Our
PTA and school volunteers have done a wonderful job of supporting our Panthers – THANK YOU. Your continued support has
helped to make Pasadena Elementary a special place to grow and learn this year. Your participation and involvement has been
most appreciated!
Please keep the school record up-to-date. If your child will be making a change in schools for next year, please let the office know
so we can prepare transfer papers for you in advance. If your address, phone number, or e-mail address has changed, or will change
over the summer, please contact the school so we can update your contact information. Keeping your contact information current
is extremely important.
The Main Office will remain open Monday through Thursday according to AACPS summer hours schedule. Please contact us with
any questions or concerns you may have now, or in the future.
A newsletter will be emailed to you in early August to announce the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. If you would like a
hard copy mailed to you, please contact the school office. The school supply list will be posted on the school website this summer.
We hope that each of you have a fun, safe summer and look forward to seeing you at Back to School/ Sneak-a-Peek on August 30
(time to be determined).

Sincerely,
Jennifer Quirino, Principal

P.S. Don’t forget to save your BoxTops this summer!
