I think it means that if you pretend don’t bother about something they did to you,

you are not really honest with yourself and with they, because no matter how small
the offence, always affect us. I think that being honest with yourself is very
important if we always want to tell the truth. For me is important say the truth no
matter how hard it is, because sooner or later it will always come to light and when
do and when it does it will cause more damage. Well, sometimes could be acceptable
tell lies, for example when someone is in danger.
