Dear Mr. Wilcox,

I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Rachel Kwiatkowski for the eighth grade ELA
position. I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Rachel on both academics and athletics this school
year and have been very impressed by her devotion to getting students engaged both in and out of the
classroom.

When Rachel joined our middle school team, she immediately sought me out to learn more about my
students’ strengths and weaknesses in order to differentiate her curriculum. Not only her willingness, but
also her interest in helping my students be successful in the general education setting speaks volumes to
her character. My students with disabilities tend to struggle with advocating for themselves, but Rachel
built a rapport in which they feel comfortable asking for help when they need it.

Rachel also played an active role in our middle school athletic program. As soon as she found out that a
coaching position was available, she jumped at the opportunity to get to know her students outside of the
classroom. Due to the unsupportive parent culture at our school, we have low athletic participation in our
girls’ middle school programs. Even though she is very busy, Rachel has been helpful with planning an
end of the year event in order to stir up female interest in sports. Her zeal for encouraging the
development of well-rounded, engaged citizens would be an asset to your school.

I have been nothing but impressed by Rachel’s commitment to and compassion for her students. In a
community where students rely heavily on their teachers and coaches as their support and positive role
models, she has excelled. It is therefore without hesitation that I recommend adding Rachel Kwiatkowski
