Understanding the Retailer Rule Qualifier

Quick Reference
– RR* / RRM*

Overview
In the Sabre system, you can use the Retailer Rule Qualifier to target fares that have been created using an Agency
Retailer Business Rule containing the retailer rule qualifier at time of pricing, shopping, and fare quote. You can use
the qualifier code with core pricing entries and in conjunction with other secondary action codes. You can also use
these qualifiers in your Price Quote (PQ), Future Processing (FP), and ticketing entries.
The qualifier (RR*) processes in a similar way to an account code (AC*xx) or corporate ID code (lxx) and allows you to
price and shop an itinerary incorporating fares linked to a specific retailer rule qualifier. You can use a maximum of
four (4) retailer rule qualifiers (RR*) in your entry.
• WPRR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)
WPRR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)¥RQ
• WPNC¥P(passenger type code)¥RR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)
• WPAC*(account code)¥RR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)¥RR*(two- to twenty-

• WPNI¥P2(passenger type code)¥RR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)
• WPNI¥AC*(account code)¥RR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)

• W¥RR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)
• W¥PQ¥RR*(two- to twenty-character alphanumeric retailer rule code)
The qualifier RRM* processes in a similar way to the additional XC qualifier with an account code (AC*xx¥XC) or
corporate ID code (lxx¥XC). This ensures that all fares returned in a price or shop match to business rules linked to
this specific retailer rule qualifier. You can use only one (1) retail rule qualifier (RRM*) in your entry

Retailer rule qualifier processing logic

The tool will continue to process business rules in hierarchical order against the same source PCC. It is assumed that
business rules containing retailer rule qualifiers will have a lower sequence number to those filed without a retailer
rule qualifier.
Processing attempts to match to a business rule containing the specified retailer rule qualifier. When the tool finds a
match, it validates data within the business rule (per current system logic) to determine if it can apply the business
rule to the itinerary.
Note: As multiple business rules may share the same retailer rule qualifier, the tool may match and apply multiple
business rules to different fare components within the itinerary.
The tool also validates business rules filed without a retailer rule qualifier for possible matches to the itinerary. (This
only applies when you use RR*).
Once the tool creates all fare options from the matched business rules, it returns the lowest fare option in the pricing
response, for example, a fare linked to a business rule with the specified retailer rule qualifier, or to a fare linked to a
business rule without any retailer rule qualifier filed, or to a published fare, etc.
Note: If the calculation method found in any business rules result in multiple fare solutions being created at the same
level, the system selects the solution matched to the specified retailer rule qualifier. If you specified multiple retailer
rule qualifiers, the system returns the fare linked to the first matched retailer rule qualifier.
If the tool finds no matched business rules, it applies current pricing logic.
Note: If you use qualifier RRM* in the pricing entry and no business rules match or are found against the specified
retailer rule qualifier, per logic like Account Code / Corporate ID pricing with qualifier XC, the tool returns no fares and
displays the following message: NO RETAILER RULE QUALIFIER FARES EXIST
As users can specify multiple retailer rule qualifiers, combinations of business rules linked to different retailer rule
qualifiers will be permitted provided the business rules are from the same source PCC.
• This only applies to Selling fares created from a Net, Redistribution or Responsive Cat 25 Business Rule.
 Combinations of business rules linked to different retailer rule qualifiers from different source PCCs are only
permitted for Adjusted Selling Level fare creation.

Refund and Exchange transactions
The system supports the RR* and RRM* qualifiers in full and partial Exchanges (WFR) and Automated Exchanges
(WFRF) transactions. Additionally, for partial refunds, when repricing occurs, these pricing qualifiers may be used for
repricing of the flown itinerary. The following commands support the inclusion of either the RR* or the RRM*
• WFR
• WFRF
• WFRM
• WFRE
As with first ticketing, you can include up to four retail rule qualifiers in the exchange command, for example:
WFRF1234567890123¥RR*ABC123¥RR*SBTKTCO¥RR*A1B2C3D4E5F6G7H8¥RR*XYZ9876543
When using the RRM* qualifier, you can include only one occurrence, for example:
