To whom it may concern:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Katelynn Nguyen, who is
currently a student in my Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus AB class at Westminster High School.
Although I have only known Katelynn for less than one year, I have gotten to know her as a very
hard-working and inquisitive student. She does not hesitate to ask questions during difficult
lessons, and I feel that by me answering these questions, the rest of the class gains a better
understanding of the material. Enrolling in an Advanced Placement course is a challenge for any
student but Katelynn has demonstrated that she has the ability to succeed in a highly rigorous
course.

Katelynn demonstrates her high mathematical abilities through daily class work, as she is able to
solve complex problems by thinking critically and applying previous knowledge. Katelynn is also a
great collaborator who works well in group settings. I know that she approaches the rest of her
classes with the same hard work, dedication, and effort, and I believe she will be successful in any
educational path she wishes to take next year.

In the future, Katelynn plans on attending UC Irvine, Irvine Valley College, or Orange Coast College
and studying Biomedical Engineering. She has already gained valuable experience in this field by
studying health and science related subjects as well as participating in an internship. As part of her
high school course load, she has successfully completed AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and
Physiology, in addition to completing a Medical Assistant ROP (Regional Occupational Program)
class. Katelynn has also had experience working in a primary care physician’s office through a 10-
week internship opportunity. The knowledge she has gleaned from these courses and her
internship has further encouraged Katelynn to seek her intended major, since she is passionate
about the medical field and wants to apply her learning from the physical and engineering world
to solve medical and biological problems.

Katelynn will be the first person in her family to attend college and believes that she can achieve
her goals so long as she is willing to put forth the effort. I am glad I had the opportunity to have
Katelynn as a student this year, and I know she will be successful in her future education.

Sincerely,

Mirna Ramirez
