1. Outline of Product
1. Features
This is a miniature lightweight single-plate color camera which is designed to
observe and diagnose the endoscope images displayed on the TV monitor screen.
It is used in conjunction with a rigid scope, an R-eyepiece fiberscope and a light
source unit (A set is combined only with a rigid scope). The special TV adapter (AR-
TF2, AR-T2, AR-TZ, AR-TD) is connected to the camera head. The features are as
follows:

1. Very compact and lightweight suitable for handling with an endoscope

2. High quality pictures by digital signal processing
3. The camera head (including the cable) can be immersed in chemical solution by
connecting the special TV adapter to the camera mount and attaching the
special waterproof cap to the camera connector.
4 . Automatic light control is possible by connecting the CCU and the light source
unit having the automatic light control function via the light control cable. The
AGC function allows observation with the TV monitor.
5. The Y/C output function in addition to the composite signal allows to record with
a S-VHS VTR, etc.
6. The exclusive character generator allows to display the patient data, date and
time on the TV monitor.
7. The foot release (MB-332) allows to remote control the pictures recorded with
a VTR.
8. The camera head is compatible and usable with any type of CCU.

2. Using Conditions
(1) When using with the peripheral devices other than medical equipments whose
electric safety is confirmed, use an insulating transformer for those devices.
(2) When immersing the camera head in chemical solution, be sure to attach the
waterproof cap and the special adapter.
(3) When sterilizing the unit with gas, remove the waterproof cap.
(4) The A-set can not be used with the R-eyepiece fiberscope.

2. Block Operation
1. Power Supply
The power supply of OTV-S4 comprises a transformer, a rectifier, a stabilized
5VDC/12VDC power supply unit (UPIS40) and three units (CCU unit) which creates
+9V DC from 12VDC. The primary input power is sent from the AC inlet to the
transformer through the breaker and power supply switch. The transformer insu-
lates the primary and secondary sides, and supplies 13VAC and 6VAC to the light
adjustment board (UPIS40) as a secondary output. The UPIS40 creates 12VDC
and 5VDC from the stabilized AC power from the transformer and supplies to other
units. The CCU unit creates 9VDC from the 12VDC supplied from the UPIS40 and
supplies to the character generator through UPIS40.

2. UPFS40 (LED/SWITCH unit)

The UPFS40 unit is the board on which an indicator LED, a light adjustment switch,
AGC switch, a color bar switch, a white balance switch and color tone switch are
mounted. All input/output signals are connected to the UPSS40.

3. UPSS40 (Color tone/light intensity control)

The UPSS40 unit receives the switch operation signals from the UPFS40 (LED/SW
unit) and outputs the corresponding LED lighting signal to the UPFS40. The light
measurement (PEAK/APL) select signal is sent to the UPIS40. The AGS/color bar/
white balance/color tone switch operation signals are sent to the CCU unit. The
character signal from the character generator (MH-199) is sent to the CCU unit.

4. UPRS40 (Video signal output unit)

The UPRS40 unit creates the VTR record/pause signals from the operation signals
from the foot switch and outputs them to the VTR remote control box. The two
channels of composite signal and one channel of Y/C video signal from the CCU
unit are further converted into three channels of composite signal and two channels
of T/C signal and sent from the UPRS40 unit to the rear panel.

5. UPIS40 (Light adjustment unit)

The UPIS40 unit creates an automatic light adjustment signal for the xenon light
source in addition to rectifying and stabilizing power. The automatic light adjust-
ment signal (IRIS-OUT) is created from the light adjustment signal from the CCU
unit (the luminance signal extracted from IRIS-SIG CCD video signal, the light
measurement method select signal (PEAK/PAL) from the UPSS40 and the sam-
pling signal (SMPL).

6. CCU unit (CCD drive/video signal creation unit)

The CCU unit create the CCD drive signal, supplies power to the CCD, create the
composite and Y/C video signal from the CCD video output signal.
