The article is devoted to investigation of the fragment «perception» of the language world structure
represented by Russian and English synonyms. Componential analysis of the synonyms studied is viewed
as a means of extracting information about one of the types of human activity that words contain. Dealing
with this problem becomes extremely vital in the aspect of cross-linguistic communication.
