DISCUSION

From the experiment, we need to determine the resonance of spring-dashpot in

different condition. First we need to determine the value of the natural frequency of the

system. The value of the natural frequency that we get from the experiment is (-value-). As

the natural frequency is determined, we now can find the value of the resonance. Resonance

occurs when the frequency coincides with the natural frequency of the system. Then we find

the value of the resonance using the experimental value of natural frequency. Then, by using

the theoretical value of the natural frequency, we search for the new value of the resonance.

The data that we collect may be different as there might be some errors that occur during the

experiment. The common errors that might occur are the apparatus that is used to record the

data may not be precise and accurate that lead to miscalculation, and the condition of the

surrounding may affect the system as well during the experiment.

Then we need to discover the effect of the damping position to the resonance of the

system. We have to compare the resonance when the damping system is at 150mm and

550mm. From the experiment we can conclude that the value of the resonance at 150mm is

(…value..) while the value of the resonance at 550mm is (…value…) .From that we can

conclude that resonance when the damping system is at 150mm is (HIGHER/LOWER) than

when the damping system us at 550mm.

Lastly we have to determine the damping velocity when the valve is closed and when

the valve is open. Different type of valve gave different value of velocity. From the

experiment we know that the value when the valve is open is (…value … ) and the value

when the valve is closed is (….value…). then we know that the value is higher when the

valve is (CLOSED/OPENED).
From the experiment the percentage error for the natural frequency is (…

value….). The different is below 25% thus the value is acceptable and can be used. The

precautions that can be done to improve the experiment result are, ensure that the apparatus

calibrate after used for precise data collection, ensure that the surrounding does not really

affect the result of the experiment.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, we are able to determine the theoretical value for the natural frequency which is
(…value…) and the experimental value of the natural frequency which is (….value…). then
we are able to determine the value of the resonance with different damping system using the
natural frequency. Therefore, the objective of the experiment was achieved and the experiment
was done smoothly without any complications.
