Like you, I believe that arbitrary violence perpetrated against our children and our fellow Texans is simply unacceptable. | am heartbroken by the senseless loss of life that seems to be occurring on an all too frequent ba: ‘This cannot continue. As you eloquently noted in your comments after the shooting, thoughts and prayers are no longer enough. The time for action is at hand. The Texas 2018-2019 school year will begin for most Texas students in August of this year, just three months away. If we believe for a moment that there is any chance whatsoever that our children may again be impacted by gun violence in our schools or in our communities, then we, the leaders of the Great State of Texas, have no choice but to immediately act. Governor, | respectfully ask that you call a Special Session of the Texas Legislature to begin the process of formulating viable and effective solutions to reducing, and hopefully ending altogether, gun violence in our schools and in our communities. I want to make it abundantly clear that I believe strongly in the constitutional protections set forth in the 2 Amendment of the United States Constitution. But as the father of three precious, public-school children, I am deeply concered for their safety and am hopefil that we will take every action possible between now and the beginning of the schoo! year to protect them and every other Texas student. ‘Thank you again for your steadfast commitment to our, continue to bless you and your family and may He to our communities.
