Worksheet: Movement Skills for Physical Literacy

One characteristic of a physically literate person is having the motor skills and movement patterns to
participate in a variety of physical activities. The activities in this session will allow you to explore your
physical literacy based on a number of self-assessments, drills, and challenges.

Instructions
1. Following each activity station, take a minute to do the following:
a. Indicate your rating of perceived exertion (RPE) for the activity.
b. Indicate your feelings about the activity using the scale provided (circle one of the faces).
c. If possible, record a rating on the activity based on your score.
2. At the end of class you will be given time to answer the reflection questions.

How to Use the RPE Scale


RPE is rated on a scale from 0 to 10. A rating of 0 would be like sitting in a chair and reading. A rating of
10 is equivalent to the hardest exercise you have ever done (e.g., like sprinting up a long and steep hill
as fast as you can until exhaustion). A good RPE range for most people is between 3 and 5. A rating of 5
would be something that gets your heart rate up, but you can continue for a long time without too much
problem.

Reflection Questions
1. What was (were) your favorite station(s)? Why?
my favorite stations were the wall toss and the soccer dribble because in the wall toss I
caught the ball many times which I enjoyed. I also liked the cone dribble because it was funny
how bad I was at the activity.

2. Based on the activities today, what were some of your strengths?


My strengths were hand eye coordination.

3. What were some of your weaknesses?


My weakness is foot coordination and strength.

4. Describe how your activity choices match your strengths and weaknesses on these movement
skills.
My strengths tie in with the wall toss because I was good at the wall toss and my strength is
hand eye coordination which the wall toss requires. My weakness is foot coordination which
ties in with the cone dribble because you need foot coordination in that activity and since I
don't have good foot coordination I wasn't good at the game.

6. Discuss the reasons why you gave yourself the physical literacy rating in question 5.
The reason why I put myself as a 6 is because I did well on most of the activities but I didn't do
as well as compared to the other activities.
