Happy Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we remember all those who have sacrificed their lives in
defense of our great nation. We are grateful and honor the heroic individu-
als who have given their lives for democracy and our continued freedom.
As the graves and memorials of all veterans are visited this day, we offer
our prayers for the faithful departed and remember those who mourn.
The Parish Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated at 8:00am on Monday.
*Please note that in observance of the holiday the Parish Office will be
closed on Monday, May 28, 2018.

Dear Parishioners:
I am excited to meet, pray and be present with you as the administrator with the team of
Father Patrick Barkey, Father Jerry Mikonis and Deacon Alexander Poroda. We have already
spent time praying together and to discuss how, as parishes, we will become a Strong Com-
munity of Faith!
October 15 is the date we will begin our assignment, but you will see us at the various
upcoming activities! In fact, we want to pray with you at each of the Church Sites.

Go, Therefore, and Make Disciples of All Nations – The history of mission-
ary activity in the Church is vibrant and fascinating. From the Apostles who
first heeded the call of Jesus to “Go and make disciples of all nations” to fa-
mous missionaries like Saint Francis Xavier and the Jesuits or Saint Teresa of
Calcutta and the Missionaries of Charity, there is a long tradition of those who
have traveled far from home to bring the good news of Jesus to every corner
of the world, even at the cost of their own lives. Today, the missionary work of the Church
doesn’t have to take us to the ends of the world, but just to the end of our street. The message of
hope and new life of the Gospel is ours to share with family, neighbors, co-workers and strangers
as we seek to continue the work of Jesus in the world today. At its heart, On Mission for The
Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to be renewed in faith and sent forth to make new disciples
in our parishes, our neighborhoods and throughout the whole world. Ask God for an abundance of
his gifts to make this a reality in your life each day. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn
more and to stay informed.

St. Damien ARCM is having a Cash and Gift Cards Raffle. Prize value is $260.00. Chances
will be sold at Fleatique on Saturday, June 2nd. Please stop by and lend your support to this
fundraiser. Hope to see you on June 2nd!
