OBJECTIVES

GENERAL PURPOSE

 Make an objective analysis in different areas in order to provide alternatives for the
solution of the erosion problem present in the scarp and gully area of the Loro sector up
to the Provincial Viaduct, Barrio San Miguel.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

 Define the concepts related to risk management due to erosion.

 Describe the different types of erosion and their causes.
 Describe the constructive procedures of the different mitigation techniques against
erosion.
 Develop a simple tool that allows to determine the general state of stability of a slope
(diagnostics) to evaluate if the execution of an immediate mitigation technique is possible
or if a more complex work is required.
 Establish the fields of application of each of the mitigation techniques for landslides in
slopes, based on the type of slope material and its geometry.
 Propose the most appropriate techniques for the stabilization of the slope.
 Elaborate the alternatives of the proposed mitigation measures.

The fundamental objective in the study to perform slope stability is based on developing measures
of prevention, control, remediation and / or stabilization in order to reduce the levels of threats
and risks.

Jaime Suárez says that the stabilization of landslides in activity or potentially unstable, is a
relatively complex work that requires specialized methodologies of design and construction. Each
system has its theoretical basis and its constructive procedures. The main factors that affect are:

Security factor

Remediation methodology

Prevention

RESULTS

Thanks to the realization of this project the following points were obtained:

Diagnosis of the erosion process present in the area

Strategies and control, mitigation of erosion

Multicriteria analysis of erosion in the ArcGis system

Encourage environmental care, to prevent damage to the present ecosystem and that it performs
the function of reducing erosion

A slope with dimensions from the first terrace of 7 meters in height is developed to reduce the
verticality of the land, as well as to make the water lose its energy when falling on it. Its operation
is based on taking advantage of the high resistance of the filling compared to that of the soil of the
land.

In the lower part of the slope the present vegetation is observed and it causes a mitigation on the
hillside

Due to the economic situation of the country and the material losses that have occurred in the
past and that are more remarkable due to the phenomena of earthquakes and rain that triggered
multiple landslides, it is necessary to have the appropriate criteria for optimal economic
implementation. as functional erosion mitigation techniques in this area.

The lack of regional information about problems associated with urban, environmental and social
situations has raised questions about the most accurate balance between poor planning and social
education on the territory; This leads to an increase in the population and, in the same way, civil
and architectural works. A clear example is the creation of new urbanizations in areas that
perniciously affect the geoforms of the landscape. According to the above, the geomorphological
landscapes formed in the region give rise to the presence of slopes and other geoforms that,
although redundant, form the regional relief.

According to the previous question, dilemmas are triggered as: What kind of management should
be carried out in an area such as the escarpment and gorge in the sector of the Loro up to the
Provincial Viaduct (Barrio San Miguel)? What are the main factors that influence erosion ?.
