The fallas celebration takes place in Valencia from 15th
to 19th of March. Origin Saint Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters, is the official focus for the festival. In the Middle Ages, carpenters used to hang up planks of wood called parots in the winter to support their candles when they were working. At the beginning of spring they burned them as a way of celebrating the end of dark. After a while they began to put clothing on the parots. Nowadays, people burn ninots, enormous cardboard, wooden, plaster and papier maché figures. Every neighbourhood raise the necessary finances for constructing the ninots which are burned during the night called La Cremá (19th March). The fallas is a festival of noise and fire which attracts foreign visitors as well as Spanish tourists from all over the world. There are crackers, pyrotechnical explosions and fireworks all over the city. Ninots Ninots La Cremá
