Administrator Contract
Executive Summary – Proposed Settlement

Proposed Major Changes to Contract

• Three (3) year term beginning Sept. 1, 2011 and ending August 31, 2014

• Removed Assistant Elementary School Principal from Classification D and created new
Classification E (Section 4.1, page 6).

• Added new language providing for a twenty four (24) month probationary period for existing
Seymour teachers that become an administrator (Section 4.3 D, page 6).

• Added language regarding biweekly pay schedule and required use of Direct Deposit by all
administrators (Section 4.1 E, page 7).

• Changed prescription co-pay from $10 generic / $15 listed brand / $25 non-listed brand to
$10 generic / $25 listed brand / $40 non-listed brand. Prescription plan includes additional
cost if employee utilizes a listed or non-listed brand and a generic is available. (Section 4.4,
pages 7-8).

• New grandfather language limiting health insurance buyout to employees hired before July
1, 2011 (Section 4.4C, page 9).

• Increased annual group term life insurance coverage from two (2) times annual salary to
two and a half (2.5) times annual salary, with a $300,000 maximum coverage limit. (annual
cost increase of approx. $425). Obtained required carrier restriction language concerning
age and reduction of benefits (Section 4.4 D, page 9).

• Obtained new language regarding definition and usage of sick days, along with
requirements for a doctor’s note (Section 4.5, page 9).

• Clarification of work year and work days language (Section 4.6, page 10).

• New grandfather language limiting the Retirement Longevity benefit to employees hired
before July 1, 2011. Added new language providing definition of retirement and a
notification period to be able to receive the benefit (Section 4.7, page 10).

• Clarification language regarding the continuation of the TSA 403 (b) plan (section 4.13,
page 12).

• Increase from $400 to $700 in Principal stipend based upon number of students in a
school with no Assistant Principal (Section 4.14, page 12).
• General Wage Increase of 0% in 2011-12, 2.0% in 2012-13 and 2.5% in 2013-14.

• Increase in Tax Sheltered Annuity of $0 in 2011-12, $750 in 2012-13 and $750 in 2013-14.

• Increase in Assistant Middle School Principal salary of $1,000 in 2012-13 and $1,000 in
2013-14.

• Total overall % increase for the above GWI, TSA and Middle School adjustment in each
year is 0% in 2011-12, 2.62% in 2012-13 and 3.07% in 2013-14. Annual cost to Board is $0
in 2011-12, $33,040 in 2012-13 and $39,814 in 2013-14. (Appendix A, page 16).

• Elimination of notification period for Early Retirement Incentive Plan (Appendix B, page 17).
