show company commitment towards environment.

1. Explore the possible elements to be included in the policy.

2. Develop a proper environmental policy according to the element that you choose.

1. PURPOSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The Environmental Policy is intended to be extend to all employees related to the company
and its devotion to leadership in the development of clean energy and respect for the environment.
In this regard, the company’s management believes the environment to be a central element of
the concept of sustainability, and particularly one of the three pillars for reaching a sustainable
energy model, together with competitiveness and the safety of supply. Our company aware of its
potential to contribute to the preservation and protection of the environment, has voluntarily assu-
med the responsibility to lead the fight against climate change and to preserve biodiversity. Our
company also conceives of respect for the environment as one of the corporate values that
determines its entire business strategy, as it is key to the configuration of a sustainable energy
model, which in the environmental dimension translates into lower emissions and greater
efficiency and the production and use of energy, as well as in complying with environmental laws
and regulations. Given all of the above, through a policy of transparent information and a strategy
of constant dialogue, our company responds to the expectations of its investors with respect to
the preservation of the environment, ever more stringent regulatory requirements, and constant
scrutiny of management by analysts, assessors, and various agents of civil society.

2. SCOPE OF APPLICATION

This Environmental Policy applies to all employees of the company, as well as to all investees
not belonging to the company over which the company has effective control, within the lawfully
established limits. At those companies in which the company has an interest and to which this
policy does not apply, the company will promote, through its representatives on the boards of
directors of such companies, the alignment of their own policies with those of the company. This
environmental policy shall also apply, to the extent relevant, to the contractors acting in the name
of the company, as well as to the joint ventures, temporary joint ventures, and other equivalent
associations, if the company assumes the management thereof.

3. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT

The company is committed to running its business in a responsible, environmentally sound


and sustainable manner. The company recognize that the supply chain, processes and products
have both direct and indirect environmental impacts. The company also seek to identify these and
to find effective ways of eliminating or reducing them. Throughout continuous monitoring of
operations, the company regard compliance with the law as the minimum standard to be achieved
and will put in place additional environmental programmes to go beyond compliance where

appropriate. Nevertheless, the company therefore endeavor to operate in harmony with the
environment, with particular emphasis on the following areas:

3.1 Production:
To carry out service using environmentally friendly materials and equipment, which are
energy efficient and produce minimal harmful waste when disposed of.

3.2 Waste & Recycling:


To minimize the waste produced through the business activities and look for innovative ways
to recycle waste material.

3.3 Energy:
To reduce the demand on energy resources from any of the company’s activities.

3.4 Transport & Distribution:


To utilize, where applicable, efficient distribution and transport systems for goods and
personnel.

3.5 Consumers:
To provide all the information necessary to enable products to be properly used, stored and
disposed of so as to avoid damage to the environment.

3.6 Employment & Training:


To ensure that all employees are in a position to improve environmental performance by
providing appropriate information, training and consultation procedures.

4. ORGANIZATION

4.1. The managing director will be responsible for establishing and implementing the
environmental policy for the company. This will involve liaising with the company’s
independent environmental health consultants, management, staff and other interested
persons in order to ensure that the policy is consistent with all relevant environmental
legislation.

4.2 Continuous development of the policy will take place in consultation with operations
management to ensure that the requirements of the policy are able to be fulfilled and that
the information is provided to all sites and acted upon.

4.3 Consultation will take place with employees on a regular basis in order to obtain their views.

4.4 The policy can only be successful with the assistance of the host organizations and the
Operations Managers should ensure that their clients are fully appraised of the intentions
and requirements of this policy.

4.5 Information relating to the company’s environmental policy should be included in all future
tenders for new contracts.

4.6 It will be the responsibility of the manager to ensure that the requirements of this policy are
actively pursued at their sites.

4.7 The level of compliance with this policy will be assessed during the site audits carried out by
the company’s independent environmental health consultants and will be subject to formal
review by the company on an annual basis.

5. PRODUCTION

5.1 Whenever a new site or building is being developed or maintenance is taking place, the
company will advise the client that, where possible, ecologically-friendly equipment should
be introduced. This means that equipment should be energy-efficient and should minimize
the use of more hazardous cleaning chemicals or other waste material.

5.2 All staff will ensure that the use of all types of power resources e.g. water, electricity and
gas, is kept to a minimum by responsible work practice. This requirement will be a key point
for emphasis during staff training on environmental issues.

5.3 Staff will ensure that all waste material from production is disposed of in a cautious manner
with a suitable personal protective equipment intact by which is in compliance with the
environmental requirements of this policy. Where the disposal of waste materials is the
assigned client’s responsibility, the operation manager will advise on the most appropriate
method of disposal.

5.4 The company OSH policy will ensure that the use of chemicals is carefully controlled and
that all such chemicals will be stored, applied and disposed of in a prescribed matter.

6. RECYCLING

6.1 Cans: The company will promote the recycling of steel and aluminium cans by ensuring that,
wherever possible, small bins for cans are placed in restaurant areas and nearby any drinks
vending machines. Customers will be informed of the initiative using appropriate signage
and encouraged to support it by disposing of cans in the appropriate bin.

6.2 Plastics: The opportunity for recycling plastics is limited, however, catering managers should
liaise with the client to determine whether a collection bin for plastic cups etc can be installed.

6.3 Paper and Cardboard: The company especially the administration department ensure that
the amount of paper utilized during its operation is minimized.

6.4 Printer Cartridges: Whenever possible used printer cartridges should be recycled using the
bags provided for this purpose.

7. WASTE MANAGEMENT

7.1 Waste Transfer


The disposal of chemical waste is controlled by the Occupational Safety and Health Act
1994. This legislation places four main responsibilities on this organizations who produce
controlled waste which are:

a) To ensure that the person or company collecting waste is a registered waste carrier.
b) To ensure that all of the waste is securely packaged or contained.
c) To ensure that a description of the waste is given to the registered waste carrier.
d) To ensure that a waste transfer note is completed and a copy give to the registered carrier.

The collection of the waste is most commonly organized by the client organization. However,
operation managers will ensure that disposal is via a registered carrier and that the transfer
note completed by the client includes a description of the chemical waste. Waste will be
prevented from spilling or leaking whilst awaiting collection. Waste stored outside will
therefore be stored in secure, lidded containers and must be securely tied. All drums must

have secure lids and skips must be covered. The operation manager will ensure that at least
one waste transfer note is completed per year unless there is a material change in the nature
of the waste or the registered carrier.

8. TRANSPORT

8.1 The company will ensure that all vehicles utilized will be subject to regular maintenance
programme in order to promote their energy efficiency.

8.2 As far as operational requirements allow, operation managers will ensure that the use of
vehicles is kept to a minimum by careful planning of activities in order to minimize the
number of journeys undertaken.

9. EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING

9.1 Upon recruitment, all of the employee is required to undergo detail briefing and familiarized
with the company’s policy.

9.2 All staff are required to adapt the company’s environmental policy during any company
related activities or during at any company’s compound.

9.1 All staff will receive internal training on the key requirements of this policy as it affects their
work. This will also include the reasons for the company’s commitment to promoting a safe
and healthy environment.

9.2 Managers will include environmental issues as part of their monthly safety audit required by
the company safety policy.

9.3 All staff will be encouraged to comment on environmental issues during the monthly safety
meetings
