Abstract
Renewable technologies are considered as clean sources of energy and optimal use of these resources minimize environmental impacts, produce
minimum secondary wastes and are sustainable based on current and future economic and social societal needs. Sun is the source of all energies. The
primary forms of solar energy are heat and light. Sunlight and heat are transformed and absorbed by the environment in a multitude of ways. Some of
these transformations result in renewable energy ows such as biomass and wind energy. Renewable energy technologies provide an excellent
opportunity for mitigation of greenhouse gas emission and reducing global warming through substituting conventional energy sources. In this article a
review has been done on scope of CO2 mitigation through solar cooker, water heater, dryer, biofuel, improved cookstoves and by hydrogen.

emission because of energy production have increased by about 37%, and
the world average temperature increased by about 0,7 °C[40,49]. Society
has embarked on a quest of more sustainable production methods such as
minimizing the wastes, reducing the air pollution arising from vehicles,
increasing renewable energy production, protection of the natural forests
and decreasing greenhouse gases emissions[43]. On the other hand, the
petroleum crisis in 1973 encouraged countries to look for new energy
sources and thus, a great interest towards renewable energy sources and
technologies[1].

Systems may be more sensitive to climate extremes[15], but further

investigations are needed[16]. Social acceptance of CRE
deployment[17]and environmental impacts[18]are also important
constraining factors in achieving long term targets of adequacy policy. They
need further attention for wind-and solar-power[14]as well as for
hydropower[19].

Appropriation of arable land from rainforests has been considered but the
destruction of these habitats is neither sustainable nor desirable (Alongi,
2002;Tilman et al., 2002). To reduce emissions, renewable energy use has
also been considered (Fridleifsson, 2001;Jacobson and Delucchi,
2011;Panwar et al., 2011); however, their current limitations include
requirement of liquid fuels and competition with food-based agriculture.
There is an overall need to utilize limited land for maximum food and energy
production.

Renewable energies – solar, wind, biomass and geothermal – are clean

resources with low environmental impacts characterized by their low costs
and almost unlimited supply (Urmee et al. 2009;Panwar et al. 2011). In this
regard, solar energy has some advantages relative to the other types of
renewable energy, which range from environmental bene ts and
government incentives to the availability of exible locations (Uyan,
2013).Grif ths (2013)presented a demand-supply model for solar energy
illustrating its commercial viability in several Middle East and North Africa
countries based on the improvement of relative costs and the availability of
solar resources.

However, the growing energy consumption, especially the consumption of

non-renewable energy in large scale, has brought a lot of serious in uence
on the environment. The sustainable development of the economy and the
human society have been under the threats of regional environmental
pollution and large-scale ecological destruction[5,6]. Since the reform and
opening up in 1978, China has been experiencing a rapid economic
development, triggered by the industrialization, informatization,
urbanization and agricultural modernization.

But to overcome the problems associated with present power and energy
sector in meeting the load demands, distributed generation using renewable
energy resources could be adopted[2,3]. An alternate to fossil fuels are
renewable energy resources which are more effective and opting them for
power generation is an ef cient way due to their ecofriendly nature[4].
